Welcome to Ms. Jass’s English 12 Class

  • This year we will be focusing on reading, language, and writing skills.
  • We began the year with goal setting in order for your student to have a vision of what they need to do to finish high school strong and think about the future.
  • As we move through the year we will continue to reinforce this success mindset while building the skills required for English 12 and the skills they need beyond high school.

PRIDE Time

  • PRIDE Time is an integral part of our school day on Tuesday-Friday.
  • Students sign up on Monday for the week.
  • Each teacher has at least 2 days that they are available for PRIDE Time at the end of the day.
  • Your student should be selecting the classes they need help in first.
  • My days are always Tuesday and Thursday.
    • There are weeks that I also make myself available on my non-mandatory days for the students in a limited capacity. I let my students know in advance what these days will be, so they can plan accordingly.

  • Absent Policy
    • They have the number of days they were absent to complete the absent work then the late work policy applies.
  • Student may speak to me if there are extenuating circumstances).
  • All late/absent work must be recorded on the late/absent work form to receive credit.

Google Classroom/StudySync/Class Novels

  • Google Classroom is our primary source of information.
    • Everything the students need will be posted on Google Classroom.
  • StudySync is technically our textbook, but most of the time I will be moving the information out of StudySync and putting it on Google Classroom for ease of use.
    • On rare occasions we will use StudySync for texts
  • We will also be checking out class novels.

What Can I Do as a Parent/Guardian?

  • Check your Parent Aeries account. Be a monitor and support your child.
  • Know resources/apps teacher communicate with parents: (Remind app, google classroom, websites).
  • PRIDE TIME - Is your child using this effectively? (Each teacher has 2 days a week some have more. I usually have at least 3 days)
  • Remind students to turn in assignments. Be supportive 1st. Why are they not turning in assignments. Do they not understand? Is there something going on? 1 missing assignment is not the end of the world. A pattern is concerning.
  • Applaud your child’s effort and progress, regardless of outcomes. Are they being more successful than they were last time? If they were not as successful, how can you help?
