What is Scale to Win?

  • Scale to Win is a phone banking auto-dialer.
  • The computer dials for you and acts as an operator between you and voters!
  • Scale to Win protects your privacy.
  • Scale to Win lets you speak to lots of voters.

About 15 correct person calls per shift!

What you need to make calls

  • Computer or iPad
  • Cell phone or landline phone (optional)
  • Headphones (optional)
  • A smile!

Preview the Script

  • The script is dynamic, so clicking each response will make the next response pop up
  • You can always use “Change Previous Answers” to go back!

Start Calls!

  • To begin calls, you can select either:
  • “Call Using Computer” which will use the microphone and audio attached to your computer
  • Or “Call with Computer and Phone” to dial in with your phone and see the callers’ details online

Start Calls!

  • Enter your phone (the one you’re calling with) and a name to begin calls
  • The tool will say “Hi, welcome to dialer tool”
  • Click “Start Calling” - and allow the tool to use your microphone

If call using phone

  • Call the phone number + the tool will connect you to a voter
  • Your phone number MUST match the call in number you added at the beginning
  • Hit “Start Calling” to begin
  • You’ll get the waiting symbol of the grey phone with the circle

Now You’re Calling!

  • The tool will start connecting to calls once you hit “Start Calling”
  • Conversations will start with a “beep”, start by reading the script, and after the conversation ends, remember not to hang up!

Once you Connect to a Voter

  • The green bar shows you’re connected, and the voters name is here
  • You can always end the call with a voter with the red “End Call” button
  • The script exactly mirrors the preview script, click the responses that correspond to the voters’ answers
  • Submit your responses once you’re done!

  • Why does it sometimes take a long time to connect between calls?
    • Not enough callers on the tool - invite a friend!
  • How do I know when to start speaking?
    • When you heard the beep!
  • Can I use any web browser?
    • Yes!

  • Will voters see my phone number?
    • Nope, just a campaign phone number!
  • I called a strange person who just kept me on the phone forever. Who was that? Was it maybe a recording?
    • Yes, possibly. They’re called Robokillers!

  • Engage from a place of empathy and compassion. Ask open ended questions and speak from a place of honesty.

FINDING THE RIGHT SCRIPT BUTTON

DIDN'T SPEAK WITH THE CORRECT PERSON

  • Hung up before you know who it is
  • Greeted by a generic voicemail response (DO NOT LEAVE A VOICEMAIL)
  • The dialer just keeps ringing after the beep and no one answers

NOT HOME

  • Person is not home right now.”
  • Voicemail prompt has person's name
  • Someone else says, “Person won't speak with you.”
  • “They're here, may I ask who’s calling?” but hangs up on you before you speak directly to the person.

NOT HOME

  • You have a wrong number

WRONG NUMBER

  • Caller does not speak English (NOTE: Identify language if possible)

LANGUAGE BARRIER

  • “Person doesn’t live here anymore/moved.”
  • or "Person is away at college."

MOVED

  • A bot (recording) answers
  • A “bot detection” service prompts you to enter numbers to verify you are a person and the call does not go through after entering numbers

REFUSED

  • Machine answers and says “Do not call this number.”
  • Someone pranks or trolls you.

  • Caller informs person is unfortunately deceased

  • Person says: “I can’t vote, I moved to another state.”

  • Person says: “Hi, this is me. I’m busy right now.”
    • or “I can’t talk right now.”
    • or “Can you call back later?”
    • or “Sorry, I’m at work. Goodbye.”

NOT HOME

  • Confirm that it’s the correct person, but hangs up after you say “I’m a volunteer with WFP.”

REFUSED

  • Person says “I’m not interested, goodbye.”

REFUSED
