What the Distance Learning Playbook Says

• Norms and class agreements for synchronous learning: co-constructed, explicitly taught, and reinforced
• Sometimes considerations should be made
• Ask students to either turn on their camera our use their school picture. When they are in breakout rooms, most of the students turn their cameras on so that they can see others.

Encouraging Camera Use

• Facilitated discussion: What do we want our Zoom meetings to look like?
• Use LMS to elicit conversation if needed
• Assign technology roles that rotate
• Frame as learning tech skills
• Acknowledge the challenge for students
