Purpose of the Survey

To elicit information and opinions around some of the problems associated with articulation credit by exam, such as:

    • Applying to college (CCCApply and getting a college ID), and
    • Ensuring that awarded articulated credits are transcripted

Background

  • Developed collaboratively with the K12 Strong Workforce K14 Technical Assistance Provider (TAP) for the San Diego & Imperial Counties Regional Consortium and WestEd
  • Disseminated in fall 2022 by statewide K14 TAPs and Regional Consortia Chairs
  • Target population was staff responsible for implementing articulation credit by exam at all 116 community colleges in the state
  • Survey consisted of 22 questions (13 multiple-choice, 9 open-response)

  • Respondent schools comprise 46% of total CC enrollment statewide
  • Counties with the most responses were Los Angeles (12 of 21), San Diego (6 of 8), Riverside (5 of 6), and Santa Clara (5 of 7)
  • No responses were received from colleges in Orange, Sacramento, or San Mateo Counties

  • One said eliminate it altogether

  • Responses centered around the lack of sufficient staffing. One respondent described the situation in this way:

“We don’t have the staffing to dedicate to articulation processes. It is no longer measured, so there is no imperative to do it.”

  • This question received just 16 responses—the fewest of any other question
