Here’s some ideas to consider to make the most of your PPC strategy over the coming weeks.

Advertising Spend Review

We can audit your current ad spend and reallocate budget into the most effective areas for the short term.

If you need to reduce your ad spend to help reduce costs, we can trim budgets from the lowest performing areas of your campaign.

If you want to increase your ad spend to capitalise on cheaper clicks, we can provide a revised budget allocation for the best value.

Other Considerations

If your customers aren’t in buy mode right now, what other value can you offer and promote to ensure they choose your business when the time is right? (i.e. nurturing relationships now to generate new sales later)

Do your campaign goals need to adapt to your market’s new online behaviours? (e.g. Switching to list building & nurturing, or pushing harder on short term lead generation etc)

What other advertising channels could you start reaching with your advertising budget? There may be cheap opportunities for capturing more awareness and attention (e.g. Google Display Network).

What new campaigns could you consider to help drive more awareness, opt-ins for valued content/guides, or leads into your business in the short term?

What new “audiences” should you create from website visitors or existing customer lists to re-target ads to (in the short and long term)? Can you target ads to current customers with an upgrade offer?

Should existing ads have the copy updated, specific offers mentioned, demonstrating empathy and understanding relating to the current situation?

Search Engine Optimisation: Things to Consider

To help you cover all angles, here’s some quick questions to ask yourself in regards to Search Engine Optimisation.

Is your Google My Business listing accurate and are you regularly posting updates relating to operational changes, new processes, new offers or products?

Should you consider switching your focus to “off site” SEO activities (such as link building) to help boost domain ranking while links are cheap/undervalued?

Have you considered writing some new content, thought-pieces, helpful guides, FAQs or useful information for your market on your blog? This could help your SEO efforts and can generate “good will” and sharing of your content, providing new sales opportunities.

During this potential quieter period, have you considered revamping and updating outdated website content or blog articles that already yield a good level of traffic and attention? Fresh and updated content can be heavily favoured by Google.

If your preference is to slow down/reduce your SEO activity, have you considered reallocating the management spend over to other shorter term sales generating strategies, such as PPC advertising management and new lead/sales generating landing pages?

If your preference is to speed up/increase your SEO activity, what additional management budget could you consider investing over the next 90 days? Should this additional budget be put towards a content development plan while your competitors slow down?

Website Updates: Things to Consider

To help you cover all angles, here’s some quick questions to ask yourself in regards to your Website.

Have you considered your website security (SSL encryption, regular backups, WordPress updates etc) to ensure you’re protected from hacking and potential downtime of your site during this period?

Does website content need to be reviewed and updated in preparation for the changes required in your business operations, how new customers will be onboarded (the process) and what is offered to them?

Do you have a page/article on your website relating to your “Company update on Coronavirus” to reassure customers and prospects, which could be linked to from a sitewide special notice?

Would it be beneficial to break down the new process of how you’ll be helping new customers remotely/over the phone/via video calls?

Should you consider a new design, contact forms and more informative/empathetic and reassuring copywriting for your key call-to-action pages? For example, a revised page for booking a consultation, appointment, or product demonstration to clarify the process and help persuade more people to engage with your team?

Could now be the perfect time to start working on a refreshed website design and development (or migration to WordPress), so you’re in a much stronger position of growth once the market recovers? Optimising your website conversion rate is one of the most valuable digital strategies for consistent growth.

Financial Impact: Things to Consider

To help you cover all angles, here’s some quick questions to ask yourself in regards to your Financial situation.

Do you need some financial help by way of extended payment terms or payment plans? Talk to your agency about what they could do to help.

Should you consider having your agency audit your existing ad spend and management fees to see if there are areas they could trim or reallocate spend for the short term?

Have you considered what you can offer your own customers by way of payment terms, discounts and added value to ensure they are able to purchase your products/services in the short term?

Have you made a decision on how your business will choose to respond to the current situation? (e.g. “now is the time to expand marketing and sales efforts” vs. “now is the time to cut costs and slow down”).

Have you considered capitalising on the predicted decrease in pay-per-click costs to acquire more visitors to your website while competitors pause campaigns?

Excite Media are helping our clients in every way we can. If you are currently under financial strain, but need some marketing help, please consider talking to our team about potential payment plan options.
