How to Hang Uniform

• Fold bibs in half lengthwise and hang over hanger bar

​

• Jacket goes on hanger over the bibs.

• If you are asked to report in “Whites”, wear your:
• Compression shirt
• Compression shorts
• Bibs (hems snapped)
• Long white socks
• White marching band shoes

​

• Bring with you:
• Jacket on hanger in your garment bag
• Shako in hat box (if worn)
• Gloves in your string bag (if worn)

​

• For cold weather:
• You can wear layers/thermals under your Whites if they are flesh-toned or white

• Special events such as the Madison Street Festival or Homecoming Parade
• Bad weather games (Too hot/too rainy)

• Wash in COLD water
• DO NOT use fabric softener
• Hang dry or tumble dry on LOW

Band Jerseys

Jerseys are worn with blue jeans with NO RIPS OR HOLES.

Bibs and Jacket:

DO NOT USE BLEACH!

It will discolor and damage uniform

OTHER UNIFORM ITEMS

• Check the garment bag for dirt. Wipe clean as needed.
• Baby wipes can be used to wipe down shakos as needed.
• Students should clean out the shako box
• Magic eraser sponges work well to clean marching shoes
• White shoe polish (Kiwi or other) should be used to cover scuffs.

USE REGULAR LAUNDRY DETERGENT WITHOUT CHLORINE OR ONE MARKED SAFE FOR COLORS.

UNZIP GARMENT BAGS AND OPEN SHAKO BOXES TO LET JACKETS AND SHAKOS AIR OUT BETWEEN GAMES

• No jewelry, except small stud earrings

• Natural hair color only, and long hair must be worn up so that it will fit in your shako.

​

• Neutral makeup and clear/neutral nail polish only

​

• Please keep your uniform items (jersey, member shorts, etc.) in good condition, so they can be used for more than one year.

​

• Marching uniforms (jackets, bibs, and shakos) are reused for many years. Please don’t make your stains someone else’s problem!

Looking the Part

While marching band means playing and marching your best, it also means LOOKING your best. When you wear your uniform, you are representing the Bob Jones Band.

Wear your uniform with pride and remember that you are a member of an award winning marching band with a history of excellence, and you are representing Bob Jones High School and Madison City Schools!
