    • August 1st - University of California (UC) Application Opens

Students are encouraged to complete the application via www.californiacolleges.edu - $80 per application

August 31st: College Fair at Woodland High School 6-8pm

    • Take time to research colleges & speak with your Counselor about your post high school plan

October

    • October 1st - California State University (CSU) Application opens

Students are encouraged to apply via www.californiacolleges.edu - $70 per application

October 1st - Financial Aid Application Opens (FAFSA)

Students can complete the application via - https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

    • Financial Aid Workshops during the Fall PHS during the school day
    • Begin requesting letters of recommendation from your counselor
    • For information to receive instate tuition for western colleges visit http://wue.wiche.edu
    • Review community colleges at www.cccco.edu for your specific program
    • Attend University application workshops during the school day
    • ASVAB: Military Aptitude Test 10/29 at Pioneer High School
    • Email Diploma name change to Mrs. Solorio, Counseling Secretary by Oct 30th Ana.Solorio@wjusd.org

    • Eligibility Local Index (ELC) - After submitting application, you can log back in to see if you were designated in top 9% of your class. Click on “View how your application is reviewed”
    • CASH for College : PHS November 17th, 2026 6-8 PM
    • Counselor will be on Thanksgiving Break the week of November 23-27 and will not be available to work with student.
    • November 30th - Deadline for CSU and UC applications

    • Check your email AND University portal for any missing documents or upcoming deadlines
    • APPLY for Scholarships! It opens December before students go on winter break

Options After High School

Community College

    • Free first 2 consecutive years of CC. must submit FAFSA/CA Dream Act
    • Students must have their transcript during registration.

UC/CSU:

    • Workshops to apply are every week in the months of October and November
    • NO SAT/ACT required.
    • Deadline: November 30th.

Private/Out of State:

    • Use Common App
    • SAT/ACT may not be required.
    • Different Deadlines to submit applications.

Vocational/Technical:

    • Compare the cost between these schools and Community Colleges that offer the same programs around California

Military:

    • ASVAB test available at PHS during the Fall & Spring
    • If students do not want a recruiter to reach out to them, they must indicate in the test.
    • Research all branches before committing to one.

Joining the Job Market:

    • Use Californiacolleges.edu for helpful hints on how to create a resume.

    • Financial aid is Expected to open October 1st, 2026 . FAFSA & Dream Act Application.
    • Workshops for students and parents in the Fall and Spring Semester
    • PHS Cash for College: November 17th, 2026
    • WHS Cash for College : December 2nd, 2026

SAT/ACT Test Update

    • As of Fall 2021, there is NO standardized test admissions requirement for CSU or UC.
    • Check with Private Universities for each of their SAT/ACT requirement
    • October 21st- WJUSD will host SAT
      • August 20th- Deadline to sign up for SAT
      • Price: $60 but with fee waiver $20, none refundable

Please allow 10 working days for processing.

Recommendation letters are needed for Private University applications, program applications within the CSU system and scholarships

STUDENTS MUST SUBMIT A BRAG SHEET TO THEIR COUNSELOR OR TEACHER IF THEY ARE IN NEED OF A LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION

Transcript Requests

    • Students must create a Parchment account and request their transcripts either official or unofficial transcripts through Parchment
    • Use a personal email address NOT PHS student email
    • Transcripts are FREE
    • They can be sent directly to Colleges/Universities/Scholarships, etc.,
    • Parents can open a Parchment account while student is in high school

Community Service Hours

    • 40 hours of Community Service is a Graduation requirement.
    • Deadline: May 7th, 2026
    • If your student has community service hours please email: Mrs. Solorio ana.solorio@wjusd.org by May 7th.
