6th Grade Arrival

  • Doors open at 9:05 AM, students have 10 minutes to transition to advisory

  • All 6th graders will enter in the far left door, NOT the main entrance.

Please note: 6th Grade will enter this door unless they are eating breakfast.

Dismissal from School

    • All students are dismissed at 3:55 PM from their designated grade level exits.
    • Walkers and Bike Riders must either use the path around the back of our building (near the fields) or access the cross walk with a cross guard on Peninsula Farm Road

Announced Dismissals: Please send in a note with your student and have them bring it to the main office so they are ready to be picked up at a scheduled time.

Unannounced Dismissals: Prohibited after 3:40 PM as this creates a disruption to our classroom dismissal process.

Dismissal for Bus Riders

    • Buses will have an assigned slot in the afternoon
    • Sixth grade students will be given a card with their buses slot number when they arrive on the first day of school so they know where they are headed (if they ride the bus).

Absences

When your student is NOT in school, please send in a note so that the absence can be excused in the system.

  • You can send a handwritten excuse note to the main office.
  • You can email our attendance secretary at tbechtel@aacps.org with notification.
  • You can send a message through Parent Portal.

Students may use phones before and after school. If a parent needs to get ahold of their student, they may contact the main office and the message will be passed along to the student.

    • Check in with your student daily about homework and how they’re feeling
    • Stay connected with your student’s teachers
    • Be sure your student is on time and here everyday
    • Get involved in PTSO (Mrs. Lee is the President)
    • Know your student’s friends AND their parents
    • Acknowledge and reward your student's effort and successes

School Security

    • Every adult must have an ID to enter the building and to pick up children
    • If anyone besides a parent/guardian picks up a child, the parent/guardian must provide a handwritten note or email ahead of time or approve another adult via Powerschool
    • WE MUST CONFIRM EVERY PICKUP WITH A GUARDIAN

Getting to School

    • Bus schedule is posted on www.aacps.org
      • Be early to your bus stop (At least 10 minutes early)
      • Call the transportation office with any questions (410-923-7890)
    • Car riders and Walkers: please do not arrive before 9:00 am
    • Doors open promptly at 9:05. There is no adult supervision prior to this time.
    • Cars should enter Severn River Middle using the upper parking lot
    • Walkers and Bike Riders SHOULD NOT trespass on Magothy Middle School

    • Meet their advisory teacher in the cafeteria & receive schedule
    • Meet all their teachers
    • School wide scavenger hunt
    • 35 minute lunch (normally 25 minutes)
    • Afternoon outdoor activity

7th & 8th grade: Tuesday, August 26th

    • Attend Advisory
    • Pick up their schedule before going to 1st period
    • Follow their A Day schedule
