To Play:

Prep a beach ball with six sections. Each section should have one of the five questions on it, and the sixth section will say “giga-mazina’amoon niizhtana!” which means give me twenty dollars. Each of the other five questions should have a random amount of $20, $40, or $60 assigned to it.
Prep fake $20 bills for the game. You need enough so that each participant starts with $100.
The first person to go should be a volunteer. They must catch the beach ball, and wherever their right hand lands is the question they must ask another participant. They must also ask for the right amount of $ i.e. Giga-mazina’amoon niimidana!
The next participant must catch the ball, answer the previous person’s question, pay them the amount requested, and then ask the next participant their question where their right hand landed.
If the person who asks the question forgets to ask for their money, do not remind them. They will not get paid.
If the person who asks the question forgets to ask for their money but the next participant has already asked a new question, they will not get paid.
Continue play for about 20 minutes. Whoever has the most money at the end of the game wins a prize.

Separate the participants into two groups standing in a line each.
The person at the front of each line will attempt to translate the sentence you give first. You can choose to either quiz them in English or Anishinaabemowin and have them translate to the language you do not quiz them in. Using the VTA King of the Hill Sentences, you can also display the sentence you are asking them to translate.�i.e. if you are quizzing in English you would show them the sentence “I love you.” and ask them to translate to Anishinaabemowin. Whichever team says “Gizhawenimin” first wins the point.
Both players go to the back of the line, and the score is tracked on a board or piece of paper. Continue until the skills are showing improvement. Depending on the skill level of your participants, you may choose to allow them their handouts, or leave this slide visible.
