  • Initiated a project to develop on 100% vegan Meatballs where the objective was to formulate fiber rich, plant-based vegetarian meatball.

  • Looking for a potential company to commercialize the product. A potential partner is currently testing samples.

  • Research project led by Dr. Geethi Pamunuwa Faculty of Agriculture , plantation and Management

Jack seed flour based vegan product

  • Initiated a project to develop a product using jack fruit seeds.

  • Had several meetings with the potential company who is willing to invest and move forward.

  • Research project led by Dr PMHD Pathiraja Faculty of Livestock, Fisheries and Nutrition.

  • Product was already developed by Prof. Anoma Chandrasekara.

  • Project is already commenced by Dr.JMM Udugama.
  • Searching a commercial partner to commercialize the product.
  • One interested partner has brought samples overseas for marketing purposes.

Handheld portable instrument to capture crop canopy

  • This is a low cost calibrated portable vegetation indices measuring device that can be used to give fertilizer recommendation for a farmer.

  • The prototype is already developed by Dr Lahiru Udayanga and Eng. Nipuna Chamara from Department of Bio systems Engineering, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka.

  • Smart Grow Pvt Ltd is interested in the product and has expressed their interest in commercializing the product. MoU has been submitted to the University.

Construction of the acclimatization unit

  • Built an acclimatization unit for customizing a micro propagation (tissue culture) protocols for commercial cultivations for large scale plantations by Dr Priyanwada Warakagoda.

  • The constructed green house is currently using for experimentally studies of selected banana cultivars.

  • Homely Goods SL Pvt Ltd company is interested to add a novel feature for their online sales platform for its customers to view novel designs with their customizations before placing an order. �
  • Mr Sudeepa Herath from Faculty of Technology  with a group of students is currently developing a smart application for the purpose.

  • Protoype has been presented to the company for comments.

Nutrias marshmallow developed by using underutilized crops

  • Healthy candy made with highly nutrias products.

  • It is rich in protein, fiber which may lose weight, reduce risk of diabetic.

  • This marshmallow is a candy without glucose syrup and less sugar

  • Developed by Ms Shathi supervised by Prof Sewwandi Jayakody from the Faculty of Livestock Fisheries and Nutrition

  • Nano-urea impregnated activated carbon is a type of activated carbon that has been impregnated with urea.

  • It has an ability to remove pollutants from aqueous solutions, such as removing heavy metals and dyes.

Development of CNC PCB Cutting Machine

  • Automated PCB Making Machine is used for manufacturing electronic circuits.

  • This technology development is intended to be leading to the startup company.
  • Currently some trials have been performed and further improvements are being carried out by Mr Subhash Rathnayake under the supervision of Mr Hasitha Bandara from Department of Electrotechnology, Faculty of Technology.

Development of Collagen Powder for Cosmetic Application

  • Fish-derived collagen is a world-leading cosmetic ingredient in the current decade.
  • Fish skin which is generally discarded as a waste is a rich source of Type I collagen for cosmetic applications.
  • Developed by Prof. Dileepa de Croos
  • One company is closely working with the team to get it further developed to be industrially viable.
  • Testing services available in Sri Lanka are difficulty to get booked for the necessary testing.

Development of a heat source for food dryers from a low emission bio char kiln

  • An eco-friendly heat generation system for domestic usage with a valuable biochar produced as a byproduct

• Generating energy by using bio mass and syngas pyrolysis, with minimized harmful emissions compared to the conventional methods

  • Started from a request and investment from an entrepreneur consultant on a student project

• A discussion with a Canadian University has begun to obtain a international patent and support for commercialization of the technology
