MFT COORDINATOR - BTC

WHO AM I?

Heather I started running in my mid-40’s. In 2013 I ran my first Half Marathon, followed by a Full. In 2014 I ran another Full, and started looking for Variety in training. I live near the Fancy Lake Park, and saw BTC there one evening a week in the summer, so when someone suggested the club to add biking and swimming, how could I say no? It was practically in my backyard! Since joining,I have improved my overall fitness and strength - I no longer wear a knee brace, I have met some fantastic new friends and have physically challenged myself to do things I NEVER thought possible for me!

WHY TRI?

LET’S HEAR FROM CURRENT MEMBERS!

Rachelle I joined BTC when I moved to the area. It was a fantastic way to meet new friends and get involved in the community! Plus Dave and met at the club too, which was a bonus ;)

Beverley I was one of the original members when the club was first formed back when I was just learning how to swim. It looked like fun.

Triathlon opened the world of water for me.

Cole I started triathlon to prove to myself that I could do it. That my body was capable of amazing things given time and dedication. I joined BTC after moving back to the area with hopes of finding a little bit extra motivation. I’m thinking this is the year I may be able to stay focused and I’m hoping BTC helps. I know it will. The swims are great when I can be there. Looking forward to some group training this season. Looks like BTC has some great inspiring athletes.

WHY TRI?

LET’S HEAR FROM CURRENT MEMBERS!

Ashley I joined the BTC MFT program to become more active after having my first child. I really enjoyed the supportive atmosphere and continue to feel motivated to improve my own performance and fitness goals through opportunities to train with some amazing athletes!

Andrea I started in Triathlon out of necessity~ I was plagued with high mileage run injuries and wanted to maintain my fitness level with cross training. I was surprised at how much I loved it! I joined BTC MFT, did my first sprint triathlon that same year and I've been hooked ever since! Relearning to swim (as opposed the survival swimming I did as a kid in the waves of Rissers Beach) as an adult was the most challenging part, but also the most rewarding!

David I started triathlon to motivate me to get and stay fit. I was in a high stress, very busy job and it seemed that fitness always took a back seat when it came to prioritizing my day's activities. Triathlon meant that even if I was injured in one discipline, I could still likely keep training in at least one of the others. I've always been competitive and couldn't stand the thought of coming last in a race. That was all the motivation I needed. And here I am nearly 25 years later, still at it. it's become a lifestyle.

WHY BRIDGWATER TRI CLUB?

David

I joined BTC for the opportunity to socialize with like-minded people with healthy lifestyle habits. BTC welcomed me without prejudice despite the fact that I was new to the area. It's possible to be a triathlete without a support organization like BTC, but I don't ever want to go back to that.
