Directions On Monochromatic Painting

1.) Choose an image to paint and also how you want to paint it (by blending colors or by using the ‘Artistic Cutout’ approach used in the Black and White Painting)

2.) Grid Picture, and draw picture on a piece of heavy painting paper

3.) Once picture is drawn, Complete the rest of your value scale by creating a value scale for each of the Primary Colors (Red, Blue, and Yellow). When creating different values on value scale as well as on painting, ONLY mix color with black OR white, never with black and white.

4.) Choose what color you are going to paint your picture in, and begin to paint

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS

  • You can use more than one color but you must also complete an additional value scale for that additional color
  • You can create a design or pattern on your painting (checkerboard, a star, a profile, etc.) and choose different colors to paint with inside the additional design
