What are Lesson Plans?

• Detailed step-by-step guide that outlines the objectives for what students will accomplish during lessons and how they will learn it
• Creating involves:
• Setting goals
• Developing different activities
• Materials Needed
• Importance: helps maintain a standard teaching pattern and doesn’t let the class become distracted

1. “The Hook”

2. Visual Display
• Presentations
• Includes any terms and definitions
3. Assessment
• How you are going to assess what the students learned
• Quizzes, projects, worksheets, etc.

• In your tables, pick 1 part of a lesson plan:

• Which part of the lesson did your team choose?
• How it was used in The Ron Clark Story? Give 1 example
• Was it effective for the students? Why or why not?
• What would you guys do differently or would you do the same?
• Share with the class!

Students Teaching Students Project:

• You and your team are in charge of teaching elementary school students on how to be a respectful and effective employee in the workforce.
• 5-7 minute lesson
• You’ll put in a group and given a skill

Students Teaching Students Project:

• Use the Engineering Design Process Loop to figure out what problems occur for your specific employability skill
• Ex.: Social skills-some students have trouble making eye contact
• Fill out the Progress Journal as you are researching

Students Teaching Students Project:

• From there, create and put together a mini lesson plan on how you are going to teach the skill.
• Follow the lesson plan structure that is given
• You and your team will get to present the lesson to middle school students!
