KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
GOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING, HEART HEROES!!
Today is the first day of Kids Heart Challenge, and it’s time for our Kids Heart Challenge Moment of the Day!
Did you know… the heart pumps out
about 83 gallons of blood each hour?!
That’s one hard-working organ!
During Kids Heart Challenge, you can earn some AWESOME prizes while helping people with special hearts. We will talk more about Kids Heart Challenge in PE!
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Good morning, Heart Heroes!
Are you ready for your Kids Heart Challenge Moment of the Day?
Physical activity does more than build strong muscles. It strengthens your bones and can improve your mental well-being too!
Download the AHA Schools app with your parent or guardian and encourage them to get out and MOVE MORE… like DAKOTA!
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Good morning! It’s time for your Kids Heart Challenge Moment of the Day!
Raise your hand if you drank at least one glass of water yesterday.
Wow! That’s great! Water helps your heart pump blood more easily. It also delivers oxygen to your brain and all the other cells in your body.
RAIN wants you to drink water this week instead of sugary beverages like soda and sports drinks to take care of your heart!
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
It’s time for our Kids Heart Challenge Moment of the Day!
Did you know… doing something nice for someone else can make you feel GREAT?
Try helping someone today! It can be as simple as holding the door open or helping to pick up a mess.
WYLIE AND BINGO reminds us to be kind every day. Log onto the AHA Schools app and BE KIND by donating today to help those with special hearts!
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Have you heard of the Nobel Prize?
It’s an award for someone who made the world a better place. It’s been won by people you probably recognize: Albert Einstein, Martin Luther King Junior, and Theodore Roosevelt!
Did you know… the American Heart Association has funded 13 Nobel Prize winners who found ways for us all to have healthier hearts?
When you join Kids Heart Challenge, YOU help save lives while staying healthy.
Maybe you could win a Nobel Prize one day!
*Not the Nobel Prize but we think those 13 Nobel Prize winners would be part of Team Hero!
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
It’s a great day to be a Heart Hero!
Today we want to remind you that brain and lung health is important too. We shouldn’t do anything that would hurt out lungs because we NEED them.
So let’s try taking three deep breaths together! Ready?
Breathe in… breathe out…
Breathe in… breathe out…
Breathe in… breathe out…
How did you feel like a “wynner” taking those deep breaths with WYNN?
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Good morning, Heart Heroes!
Have you ever seen a little red check mark on one of your favorite foods? That is kind of like a clue to tell you that you are making great choices!
There are over 900 heart healthy food items with this mark that are approved by the American Heart Association!
Download the AHA Schools app and join our team for more healthy clues and to help us save lives.
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Have you ever heard of… a Pulse Ox?!
No, it’s not a cow that’s working out!
This is a lifesaving test that lets new parents know if their baby has a sick heart. Early detection help save those babies’ lives so they can grow up to be as big and strong as you!
The donations we raise during Kids Heart Challenge makes that possible.
Congratulations and thank you to the students who have already signed up during our first week. Keep going!!
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Hello, Heart Heroes! Did you know… you can make your heart happy with daily affirmations?
Let’s try some! Repeat after me:
I am strong!
I am smart!
I am kind!
Great work! Strong, smart, kind people don’t forget to sign up for Kids Heart Challenge.
Use the AHA Schools app to learn how to keep your heart healthy and share what you’re learning with friends & family!
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
How many of you are moving more during Kids Heart Challenge?
Did you know… when you're moving your body, it takes your blood about ten seconds to get from your heart to your big toe and back?!
THAT IS FAST! FAST - LIKE THE WYNN!
Try running that fast the next time you have PE!
Thank you to the students who have already signed up for Kids Heart Challenge! And if you haven’t, download the AHA Schools app today!
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Hey, Heart Heroes!
Did you know… your heart is made up almost entirely of muscle? When hearts are healthy, they can be strong enough to lift approximately 3,000 pounds - or the weight of a small car!
Help work out and grow those muscles the way DAKOTA teaches us during Kids Heart Challenge.
Thank you to all of our students who have signed up and raised donations to earn our heart heroes!
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Kids ages 4 - 8 should eat no more than about 3 teaspoons of added sugar a day!
Did you know… just one can of soda can have 9-10 teaspoons of sugar?
In one year, most people drink enough soda and sugary drinks to fill a whole bathtub with sugar!
That’s why Kids Heart Challenge Heart Hero RAIN wants us to CHOOSE WATER instead of sugary drinks.
Have you signed up for Kids Heart Challenge yet?
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Did you know… getting a good night’s sleep can improve your memory, help you focus in class, and even BUILD MUSCLE?!!
That’s why our Kids Heart Challenge Heart Hero RILEY wants you to get 10 hours of sleep every night.
Yes! 10! WHOLE! HOURS!
That means listen to your parents when they tell you to go to bed!
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Did you know… a baby’s heart is the size of a strawberry when they are born?
As you grow, so does your heart until it’s about the size of an adult’s fist.
Making healthy eating choices like PEPPER and being active is the best way to treat your heart right to help it grow big and strong!
Help us raise awareness by joining Kids Heart Challenge and don’t forget to download the AHA Schools app today!
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Did you know… for every hour you exercise, you’re adding two hours onto your life?!
That means more time with friends, family, or – in Wylie’s case – their sweet dog Bingo!
That’s why we’re working hard during Kids Heart Challenge to build healthy habits to live longer, healthier lives.
Thank you for your help raising donations to help friends with special hearts! Let’s see who can earn a new heart hero this week!
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Time for today’s Kids Heart Challenge Moment of the Day!
The next time you get your hands on a tennis ball, try squeezing it tightly.
That’s how hard your heart beats every time it pumps so it can push blood all the way through your body!
It’s the last week of our Kids Heart Challenge and your last week to learn hands-only CPR like ACE. Make sure to sign up by the end of the week to help our friends with special hearts!
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Did you know… your blood is blue and red?
When your blood enters the heart, it’s actually a purple-blue color because it doesn’t contain oxygen yet!
Blood that exits the heart is red because it contains oxygen – like what you see when you get a paper cut or skin your knee!
Isn’t your body so cool?
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Are any of our Heart Heroes feeling tired this morning?
It’s soooooooooooooooooo important to get enough sleep every night!
Sleep makes you a better problem solver because you are more alert. Sleep also improves your mood so you feel better and aren’t cranky with your family, friends, or teachers! Uh-oh!
Try to get 10 hours of sleep every night from now until the very end of Kids Heart Challenge!
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Good morning, Heart Heroes!
Being active isn’t just for recess and PE time!
It’s important to add movement throughout your day. Remind your family to move more at home to keep your loved ones healthy too.
This could be your family going for a walk or watching an exercise video on YouTube to do together.
Ask your family to download the AHA Schools app and get active together today at home!
KHC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Today is the last day of Kids Heart Challenge!
Thank you to all of our students and staff who have spent these past few weeks moving more, drinking water, eating healthier, sleeping more, spreading kindness and learning how to save lives with the American Heart Association!
Remember: even though this year’s Kids Heart Challenge has come to an end, you can take care of your heart and your friends every day!
We’ll see you next year!!
