Imagine Your
Perfect Day
REFLECT AND DREAM
Introduction
One of the best ways to create a great future for yourself is to imagine the future you want. Consider where you want to live, what job you would have, what activities you would enjoy, and who you would share them with. By planning your perfect day, you create a vision of the life you want for yourself. When you have a clear idea of the life you desire, it becomes easier to make a plan and stick to it, helping you reach your ultimate goals.
HOW CAN IMAGINATION IGNITE THE FUTURE?
START WITH YOURSELF
Imagine your possible future self.
REFLECT AND DREAM
"Writing in a journal each day allows you to direct your focus to what you accomplished, what you’re grateful for and what you’re committed to doing better tomorrow. Thus, you more deeply enjoy your journey each day.”
Hal Elrod
What does this statement mean to you?
THINK ABOUT TRACKING YOUR THOUGHTS OVER TIME
Journals can help keep important ideas or events fresh in our minds. When we review them later, they may spark new ideas.
Some people use their journals to imagine scenarios, such as what they think might happen at a school dance.
In today’s activity, you are going to write a journal entry that describes your perfect day 10 years from now.
THINK ABOUT TRACKING YOUR THOUGHTS OVER TIME
The first step in imagining your perfect day in the future is to revisit your interests.
Design a Bubble Map with yourself at the center. Surrounding the center, create bubbles that include 5-10 ideas for what would make your perfect day.
Consider the following questions:
Use these questions to guide your ideas as you fill out your Bubble Map.
HOW CAN OTHERS HELP YOU DEFINE YOUR FUTURE?
LOOK BEYOND YOURSELF
Expand your ideas about the future by getting the thoughts of people around you.
REFLECT AND DREAM
THINK ABOUT USING OTHERS TO ENHANCE IDEAS
Trade your Bubble Map with a classmate.
Look at what they have written in each bubble and ask questions about some of the ideas. Use the provided graphic organizer to write down your questions.
For example, if one of the bubbles says “Hiking,” you might ask, “Where will you take this hike?” or “How long will your hike be?”
THINK ABOUT USING OTHERS TO ENHANCE IDEAS
Once your classmate has asked you their questions, record your answers in bubbles next to the concept they asked questions about. Here is an example.

CONNECT DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY IN 10 YEARS
Trade journal entries with another student in class and check for the following:
- Are there any areas that need more detail?
- Have they met the criteria?
- Are there any grammar or spelling errors?
Return the journal entry to its owner and provide feedback to help them improve their writing.
Then, correct any errors or make adjustments to your paper based on your editor’s suggestions.
