Grade Calculation for Middle School Final
- Each 9 weeks mark counts 20%. The EOG Mark (in the Exam column) counts 20%. To determine a final average (given the current Grade Reporting Regulations) the average is based on the letter grades of A, B, C, D, and F.
- In order for a calculation of a letter grade to take place, the average of the 7-point range for each letter grade is used, with the exception of an F. The following values are assigned to the letter grades:
- A = 97
- B = 89
- C = 81
- D = 73
- F = 66 (an F was calculated on a 7-point scale as well as the other grades)
- It is important for teachers and administrators to understand that the actual numerical grade earned by a student is not the grade used for calculations (per policy…not NCWISE). The letter value of that grade is used to calculate final marks.
