Physics Day!
Are you a parent that wants your child to learn physics, or a high school student that wants to know more about majoring in physics after graduation? Join us at Physics day! This event will be hosted by the A&M-Commerce Department of Physics and Astronomy, and is open to the public. There will be lots of fun activities.
Location: Keith D. McFarland Science Building (Building B22 on the campus map).
Date and time: Saturday, Apr 20th, 2024 from 9:30 am-2:30 pm.

9:30am – 10am Arrival, registration, pick up your T-Shirts – Foyer of Science Building Parking in Lot 35 – access from West Neal street; science building is B22 on campus map. |

10:00 am – 10:20 am Welcome & introductions; tour labs and student lounge |
10:20 am – 11:15 am Electron Microscope Imaging activity |
11:15 am– 11:45 am Planetarium demo, demonstration of SARA telescopes - Room 146 |
11:45am – 12:15 pm Faculty/student presentations - Room 146 An introduction to the research our undergraduate students work on with our faculty |
12:15 pm – 1:00 pm Lunch – Room 146: Hear about our physics program over food! |
1:00 pm - 1:45 pm Physics demonstrations/challenge – Room 135 Play with some interesting physics experiments and talk to our undergraduates |
1:45 pm – 2:30 pm Panel discussion - Room 127 Find out what it’s like to be a physics major and do physics research, in a question-and-answer session with our panel of students. |
