Covid update
Dr. Strang said that schools would remain online until at least the end of May.
As well, you should expect to have exams after June 11th, for courses that normally have exams. These exams might be different from before: they could be presentations, interviews, performances, portfolios, exams, and projects.
Weekend mark update
I sent out your mark update on the weekend.
Some of the marks are in progress and will look low because you are still working on them!
For example, you are going to be working on the Peer Feedback assignment this week.
I appreciate it when you check this for mistakes.
Feedback from Drapak
Right now, my focus is on providing feedback to you.
It is very easy for people to get the wrong idea of how you are doing. In general, very relaxed people will think they are doing better than they are, and careful people will think they are doing worse. During lockdown, feedback to students is very important.
This happens in a number of different ways:
Right now, the feedback on your work is very important. However, please expect that there will less feedback on your work as the semester progresses. This is a normal part of how students must become more independent at the finish of a semester.
How does online attendance work in Drapak’s Visual Arts?
I take attendance twice each class:
The first time is for the presentation on Google Meet.
The second time is after you hand in the photo of your work-in-progress.

Which art materials are good to use?
The obvious ones: pencils, art pencils, watercolour or acrylic paint, alcohol markers, coloured pencils, watercolour pencils, pastels, charcoal, fine-liner markers, jelly-roll pens, self-hardening clay, etc.
Which ones are bad?
Anything that seems like elementary school materials: sharpie markers, crayons, sparkles, cotton balls, pipe cleaners, non-alcohol markers, etc.
Plan BLUE
Make your painting idea using any materials
Day 3 of 6 😨😨😄😄😄😄
It does not have to use paint, or even colour. Use the materials you have at home to bring it to life.
Use the best paper you can find, but printer paper will do. Lined notebook paper is less good, but it will do.
TODAY you will finish the first layer in the background, and start to do the first layer of the things in front.

Idea development for the independent project
Gather as many images as you wish. Drop them onto this slide and arrange them. You should collect at least six images, but you get points for up to 8 printed images that you hand in.
Photographs are the most useful for developing an idea. However, up to half your images can be of other people’s artworks. Use the best quality images you can.
