Move Holdings and/or Items

Goal:

Ability to Transfer (move) attached records and maintain existing relationships

When transfering holdings to another instance, all associated items have to be transferred as well

Use Case: As a cataloger I want to transfer holdings and all associated items from a one instance record to another the newly created record.

Bulk moving items and holdings.

When there exist dependencies with e.g. the Order app, then you get a warning message. The cataloger can do the transfer, and then manually do clean up in the Order app.

Out of scope: Dependencies with other apps - UXPROD-1647

Prioritization:

  • Not cap-mvp

Chalmer requirements:

  • CHAL-96 - relink items between holdings or holdings between instances

“The current workaround, while we are not able to relink records, is to delete the record we would want to relink and then create a new one with the correct link. This is pretty cumbersome, and we may lose transaction history when moving items around”

  • CHAL-144 - Bulk move item between holdings when annually moving journal issues older than five years from open shelf to stacks

No workaround

Drag and drop … reuse the drag and drop component

  • Demo solution implemented in the Request app

Move holdings and item - mark-up screen

✓

Mark up the holdings to be moved.

The move would be the holdings with all associated items - if Holdings is clicked - all Items get marked too.

If not all items to be moved, then _unclick_ the ones not to move.

This scenario will include that the holdings record gets duplicated. And the duplicated holdings record is associated with the instance record being moved to.

“Context-dependent” behavior (maybe later phase?)

If all items are moved from an holdings, then the system should pop up a warning message, and ask if you want to delete that given holdings, like (in OLE):

20 of 22

Check the business logic:

  • Effective location
    1. Following the logic of https://wiki.folio.org/display/RA/Effective+Location+Logic
      1. When an item is moved to another holdings within the same instance
      2. When an holdings with items is moved to another instance
      3. When items are moved to another instance, with a new holdings
  • Effective call number
      • When an item is moved to another holdings within the same instance
      • When an holdings with items is moved to another instance
      • When items are moved to another instance, with a new holdings

“Context-dependent” behavior (maybe later phase?)

If no holdings record or no correct holdings record in the destination instance record, then creating the holdings record should be possible in the dual view screen by using the Actions button.

Out of scope: Dependencies

UXPROD-1647 - Ability to maintain relationships between other apps when holdings/items are moved from one instance to another

  1. Items (with all existing item states) can be moved.
    1. Review each item state, and make sure a correct context specific warning/action note is populated, e.g. if the item is checked out, then a note for technical service staff
  2. Request (also the Request statistics)
    • Item level request
    • Title level request
  3. Orders (this is important - will loop in Dennis. AppInteraction SIG - will loop in Martina Schildt)
  4. Existing loan, statistics for check out (Chalmers comment)
  5. MARCcat (check with Tiziana)
    • MFHD - moving holdings (Duke, Alabama ...)
  6. SRS (check with AM-B)
  7. Course Reserve (check with Kelly)
