Hieroglyphics
What are Hieroglyphics?
Hieroglyphics was a way of communicating in Ancient Egypt.
The little pictures were drawn on walls of caves, stones and around the country to show different stories from their past.
The only way people were able to translate hieroglyphics was because a thousand years later, it was found with a translation in Latin (a now lost language). If not for that translation, we would have no idea what hieroglyphics would have translated to.
Tell us a story...
A rebus is a story with pictures inserted in the place of words. Storytelling is an important part of many cultures.
Retell the story in your own words. Where you can, replace the words with pictures (or emojis) to create a rebus.
Example: I watched a scary with my
family. We were so but but we kept on
watching. Next time, we will just watch
something that makes us . We can even
eat some .
You can do rebus style:
Or you can create your own style:
Draw a picture that tells the full story
Create a comic strip telling the story
Come up with your own symbols/letters for your own language to tell the story.
