Principal’s Note

Dear Clive families and community,

As we welcome the vibrant spirit of spring, I hope this message finds you all in good health and high spirits. April brings a ton of opportunities for growth, exploration, and of course, some unpredictable weather!

In light of this, I kindly request that all students come prepared for any weather conditions. Please ensure your child dresses appropriately, with layers that can be added or removed as needed. It's always a good idea to have a waterproof jacket or umbrella on hand, just in case the skies decide to bless us with a spring shower.

We will also be spending the month of April focussed on our badminton competitions and practices. Make sure you are checking the website for practice dates and times. We look forward to everyone coming out to cheer our junior high athletes as they compete.

In addition, a special shout out to our basketball and curling teams who wrapped up their seasons in the month of March. We had almost 30 curlers that competed in our school bonspiel for the right to go to the Wolf Creek Bonspiel on March 21. As well, our senior girls basketball team placed third at the CWAJHAA playoffs. Congratulations to all the students involved and the coaches for all of their hard work.

I look forward to seeing our students embrace the wonders of spring, both indoors and outdoors, throughout the month of April.

Have a fantastic month!

Abbey Cruikshank

Important Notice:

School exterior

doors locked

In the interest of safety and security, our exterior doors are now locked between 8:25 AM and 12:11 PM, and 12:51 PM and 2:59 PM.

Access can be granted if you ring the doorbell outside our main doors.

The doorbell sounds throughout the school hallways. Please help us avoid excess doorbell interruptions throughout the day by ensuring that your child arrives at school on time at the beginning of the day and (for junior high students) after lunch recess. Of course, students arriving late due to appointments and such would be expected to ring the bell upon their arrival.

We appreciate your support as we make this change. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Cruikshank or Mr. Stones at the school.

Thank you

We received a generous cheque from All Sports Cresting. You may recall they sold pink shirts for Kindness Day, with a portion of the proceeds to go to our new playground. Thanks very much for your support!

Thank you so much to all the parents and community volunteers who have been helping out with hot lunch this year. We couldn’t do it without you! We very much appreciate your support!

Clive School Bonspiel 2024

It’s been a great season with about 30 curlers coming out this year. On March 14th we held a School bonspiel for all curlers with 7 teams competing. Congratulations to the blue team who were our champions this year. All curlers really showed tremendous growth as the season progressed. Now we will take 2 teams on to the WolfCreek Bonspiel on March 21st in Lacombe. Wish us luck!

Dear parents/guardians of Clive School families:

As we approach the end of the school year, please note that student files with our School Social Worker will be beginning to close in May.

Mrs. Gardner has enjoyed supporting all the students this year and hopes that the strategies learned will be beneficial throughout the summer. If additional support is needed for the summer, families can reach out to Mrs. Gardner for a resource list.

Clive School Council, along with Clive School, are taking on the momentous task of putting in a new playground. The old wooden structure at the school has come to the end of its lifespan. It has been able to provide over 30 years of memories along the way. To ensure proper safety for our students and community it will need to be taken down and replaced with a new structure.

The new playground is not only going to be a huge benefit to the students of Clive School, it will also have a positive impact on the community as a whole.

While we are very excited for the new playground, it comes at a very large cost. We are estimating our cost for the new playground around $300,000.00, however this could change as we get going on our planning and design phase. We will not be able to do this without help from the community.

We are asking community and local businesses to consider helping sponsor the new playground. We have set up a plan for recognizing contributors. Each level of sponsorship will receive recognition on our school website as well as outside the school building. Levels of sponsorship will be as follows:

  • Elite: $25 000.00 and over
  • Platinum: $15 000.00 to $24999.99
  • Gold: $10 000.00 to $14 999.99
  • Silver: $5 000.00 to $9 999.99
  • Bronze: $1 000.00 to $4 999.99
  • Community Builder $100.00 to $999.99

We also would like to offer Elite, Platinum, Gold and Silver sponsors the opportunity to choose specific playground components to completely fund, which can then be plated with their names and/or logos.

Donations can be made to Wolf Creek Public Schools and can be sent to Clive School at Box 329, Clive, Alberta T0C 0Y0. Tax receipts will be issued.

Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our principal,

Abbey Cruikshank, at abbey.cruikshank@wolfcreek.ab.ca

or the Playground Committee chair, Jolyn Dobinson, at jdobinson@hotmail.com

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Community news

Hey families!

Do you have an interest in after school programming for your children in Clive?

There appears to be a need for accessible and affordable childcare options for working parents as well as a desire to provide additional educational and social development opportunities for our children in the community of Clive.

We have taken some preliminary steps in the community to see what options we can pursue to implement after school programming in Clive, but we need YOU!

We would like to invite any interested parties to attend a brainstorming session at the next Clive School (Parent) Council meeting, May 14th at 7pm in the Clive School Library. Please share with any families you know in the area.

For more information please contact Clive School Council member, Diane Krochak:
