Junior High Culture

  • Grades
    • Grades are a big deal in school, and super important to keep track of
    • Grades determine your eligibility for sports and school activities, you need to have a 2.0 and no more than 1 F to be eligible.
      • What would this look like?
        • Passing all of you classes with C’s or better
  • Homework
    • There is not a lot of homework. In most of your classes, you get homework by not completing all of your classwork during the school day.
  • Breaks and Lunch
    • You get a nutrition break in the morning.
    • You get a 30 minute lunch after your 3rd period.
      • Junior High students have their lunch on the lower campus.
      • All breaks are separate from the High School schedule.
  • Have Fun!
    • Get involved: join sports, clubs, and participate in school events
    • Encourage and lift each other up
  • Start thinking about your future
    • Who and what do you want to be?
    • Do you want to go to college? Do you want to go straight into a career?
    • Think about all of the exciting possibilities!

Junior High Classes

  • Classes
    • You will have 5 classes every day.
    • You will have English, Math, and PE all year.
    • Your History and Science classes will be for only 1 semester; fall or the spring, example:
      • If you have science in the fall, you will have history in the spring.
  • Your 5th class is called the Wheel.
    • The Wheel class is your elective class. This year we had Art, Shop, 3D Printing, and Music.
    • You will rotate through the classes four times per year.
    • If you are in AVID, it is a semester long class and is either in the Fall or Spring; you will rotate through the Wheel twice when you are not in AVID.
