Statement
Living through a screen, I exist simultaneously in digital and physical realms. I’m fascinated by how materials transform across this digital-physical portal—how a small, mundane piece of glass can appear enormous, adorned with otherworldly colors and textures on a screen. This way of seeing and thinking has become second nature, compelling me to invent a new way of painting—one that feels native to today’s visual logic and habits of image-making.
I first "upload" ordinary objects I find—my sweater, shower curtain, metal wires, or chipped walls—into the digital realm, transforming them into something familiar yet elusive, imbued with new contexts. Once reimagined digitally, I work to bring them back into the physical world. Working with Canon Solutions, I use robotic technology to translate digital images and 3D meshes into physical paintings.
Structure Paintings blend robotic technology, painterly techniques, and writing. For me, this is a lifelong meditative project, bringing rhythm and composure to the ebb and flow of my life. It seeks balance—between technology and human consciousness, automation and labor—while navigating endless possibilities. Each painting becomes a relic of this tireless exploration and yearning.
