Milestone module

All Funded Projects (FPs) must submit Statement of Milestones (SoM) via Catalyst Milestone Module.

  • Access to the Milestone Module
    • Once the onboarding form is completed, FP will receive a link to reset their password and create a new one (if FP used Module in the past, should just login to the Module)
    • Must use email that is associated with your ideascale profile.
  • Approvals
    • All your milestones must be approved
      • By two Milestone Reviewers (general categories)
      • By three Milestone Reviewers (partner categories)
    • Once all MRs have approved - every SoM needs to pass final review and sign-off by the Catalyst Team
  • Timeline
    • You can begin working on milestones from Dec 18, must complete all steps by Jan 12

Milestone module

High level overview. For further details please visit Catalyst Documentation portal.

  • Each Funded Project (FP) will have a specific initial number of milestones in the Milestone Module based on the project’s grant amount:
    • Up to 75,000: 2 milestones, plus a final milestone.
    • 75,000 to 150,000: 3 milestones, plus a final milestone.
    • Over 150,000 to 300,000: 4 milestones, plus a final milestone.
    • Exceeding 300,000: 5 milestones, plus a final milestone.
  • Need more milestones? If an FP wishes to have more milestones visible in the Milestone Module, they should submit a ticket here by Dec 23, end of day UTC.

Milestone module

High level overview. For further details please visit Catalyst Documentation portal.

  • Milestones formulation in the Milestone Module follow some key rules:
    • Each milestone should last between 1 and 3 months, except for the final milestone, which must last 1 month.
    • Funding amount for each milestone must be between 5% and 30% of the total grant amount in ADA. Specifically, Milestone 1 cannot exceed 75,000 or 30% of the total grant amount.
    • Final Milestone must allocate at least 15% of the total grant amount and must last for 1 month.
    • Projects can deliver Proof of Achievements sooner than stipulated on the timeline, but in sequence as prescribed by the statement of milestones

15 of 33

During onboarding, each project team must outline:

  • Clearly defined project milestones and deliverables
  • Criteria for success at each project stage
  • Timeline and budget for achieving each milestone
  • Anticipated outcomes and capabilities by the end of funding

Statement of Milestones (SoM)

When milestones are reached, projects must provide evidence of their outputs in the Milestone Module for review.

Upon acceptance of this evidence, funding batches for the next milestone will be approved.

Proof of Achievement (PoA)

Milestone (M) Funding

Milestone Reviewers (MR) are onboarded to evaluate milestones in the Statement of Milestones and the evidence provided as part of the Proof of Achievement.

All evidence must be approved by assigned MRs and signed off by the Catalyst Team

Milestone Reviewers

The first payment will be 80% of M1 budget, divided by the number of months required to complete M1. Example:

  • M1 budget: 100,000.
  • M1 length: 4 months
  • 80% of M1: 80,000
  • 1st payment: 20,000

Remaining 20% paid upon completion of M1. Unlocks M2 funding.

Due Diligence Process

17 of 33

Due Diligence

  • For each grant there must be a declared official Grantee that holds responsibility for the execution of it
  • Grantees are classified as:
    • Individuals
    • Incorporated organization
    • Unincorporated organizations
  • Access to the verification portal
    • After correctly and duly completing the onboarding form, you will receive a link via no reply email from the Catalyst team within 1-2 hours. If any issues occur, please raise a ticket here.
  • For returning Grantees
    • If you are a returning Grantee from Fund12 (or a verified community member in Fund13 for individuals only) and your details have not changed, your existing verification will carry over to Fund13. It is crucial to use the same email address as your reference from the previous KYC/KYB process you’ve passed; otherwise, you will need to repeat all verification steps or risk delaying onboarding.

Test Transaction (Tx)

19 of 33

Test Transaction (Tx)

    • Catalyst will email a validation form for Grantee to confirm receipt of the 1 ADA.
    • The wallet address Grantee confirms must exactly match the address provided in the onboarding form.

So Who Do You Report To?

28 of 33

The entire Cardano Community!

29 of 33

Proof of Achievement (PoA)

  • How?
    • Using Milestone Module
  • When?
    • Delivery month as submitted during the onboarding in the Milestone Module
    • Any delays or changes to project timeline/deliverables need to be communicated with the Catalyst Team in advance

30 of 33

Considerations & hiccups along the way

  • Ensure you follow your email notification from the Milestone Module and you finish submission/resubmission by Jan 12
  • Be realistic about your timelines - ambitious projects with unknowns can and do cause delays to delivery. Each projects should be delivered within 12 months
  • Some things may break - delivery is not only about success, it's about the pathway to get there
  • Tell us about challenges you have that may impact the project - in case we can help
  • You can always submit a ticket to Catalyst team with any sensitive, confidential matters
