Breathing and Buzzing

Now that you have some new friends and a little information about the pBuzz, let’s do some breathing together so we can prepare our breath for the pBuzz!

  • Box Breaths: 4 beats in as arms come up; hold for 4 with arms high; 4 beats out as arms come down.
  • Buzz Exhale: purse your lips together, leaving a small aperture for air to vibrate your lips.

Color Coded for Scaffolding

    • Examine the notes and colors on your pBuzz. The higher pitched notes are closer to the mouthpiece, and the lower notes are a longer reach with the slide extended.
    • The color coded system on the pBuzz matches the Orff System of color - which means that your chromonote bells, boomwhackers, and glockenspiels will have the same color system.
    • In my classroom, I use dot stickers to help students find the notes on pianos, guitars, ukuleles, and basses as well.

Truth Hurts in the Style of Lizzo

    • Lizzo Truth Hurts also only uses two chords -

||:C/ / / / |Am/ / / / :||

    • ||:C G C G | A E A E:|| and it has a bass riff that is present throughout the song.
    • The pBuzz requires air, so breathing on the Pitch E that is out of range is a great solution for any song that has an E in a riff.
    • Breathing is important, as well as embouchure rest.
    • ||:C G C G | A rest A rest:|| is how the pBuzz would play vs. a bass or low piano part.

CHORUS:

Why friends great 'til they gotta be great?

Don't text me, tell it straight to my face

Best friend sat me down in the salon chair

Shampoo press, get you out of my hair

Fresh photos with the bomb lighting

New friends on the Minnesota Vikings

Truth hurts, needed something more exciting

Bom bom bi dom bi dum bum bay

VERSE 2:

You tried to break my heart?

Oh, that breaks my heart

That you thought you ever had it

No, you ain't from the start

Hey, I'm glad you're back with your clique

I mean who would wanna hide this?

I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever be your side clique

I put the sing in singer

Ain't worried 'bout a string on my finger

So you can tell your friends, "I forgot" when you see 'em

It's OK, we already making new friends

Let go, I got a feeling that it's time to let go

I say so, I knew that this was doomed from the get-go

You thought that it was special, special

But it was not special, special

And I still hear the echoes (The echoes)

I got a feeling that it's time to let it go, let it go

Seasons change and our love went cold

Feed the flame 'cause we can't let it go

Run away, but we're running in circles

Run away, run away

I dare you to do something

I'm waiting on you again, So I don't take the blame

Run away, but we're running in circles

Run away, run away, run away

Maybe you don't understand what I'm going through

It's only me, What you got to lose?

Make up your mind, tell me

What are you gonna do?

It's only me, Let it go
