The video "A CODA Story" shares the heartwarming story of Tony, a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), and his family. The core message of the video is the importance of communication and keeping in touch with loved people, especially family, despite physical distance. As a CODA, or “child of deaf adults,” Tony has always had one foot in the deaf world and one in the hearing world. His role in translating for his parents is shown to help them understand the world around them.

And now that he hasn’t been able to see his parents in person in over a year, is more important, but also more difficult, than ever. But with the help of communicative technologies, Tony and his family can share the moments that matter most. They help the main character to show support for his family and stay close despite being on distance. The video emphasizes the grandparents' desire not to miss any moments of their grandchild's growth. This is done through video calls, where they can watch important moments such as the baby rolling over and even learn sign language together.

I’m what’s called a CODA.

My parents were both born deaf. I was not.

When people in the hearing world learn that about me, they always want to know more.

You start at your forehead and then go out with your hand.

I’ve always had one foot in the deaf world, and one in the hearing world.

I translated a lot for my parents. It made us closer.

Now that it’s been over a year since we’ve seen each other in person,

communication is more important than ever.

Especially with this guy.

— Wave hi! — Can you wave?

Hi!

It’s their first time being grandparents, so they don’t want to miss a single moment.

And I don’t either.
