What is Title 1?

Title 1 is a Federally funded program for K-12 school districts aimed at closing the achievement gap between low-income and moderate to high income students.
These funds are provided to help all students meet state academic standards.
A school qualifies for Title 1 funding if their student Free & Reduced Lunch percentage is higher than 35%

Applications are also available at the front desk of your child’s school.

Evaluation of Title I Program

Standards based instruction must be taught in a Title I school and curriculum that is approved by the state and our governing board is used - these currently include Fundation, ReadyGen and iReady.

Appropriately certified staff means that all staff are Highly Qualified, if at any point we have someone teaching that is not highly qualified you will be informed.

Academic Assessments tell us how your child is progressing and how to help them succeed.

These benchmark assessments are give 3 times throughout the year. The beginning of the year (BOY), Middle of the year (MOY) and the End of the year (EOY). Some students will also do progress monitoring testing more often to provide clear learning goals in the area of early literacy acquisition.

Yearly our school develops a Continuous Improvement Plan that included Action Steps that use Evidence Based Strategies to assist all students in learning and progressing along their path to success.

Family Enagement is critical to learning and to being a Title I school.

Title 1 Reading and Math supports students struggling with academic achievement and those who do not meet state reading and math standards.
Students are identified using multiple reading and math assessments.
Additional small group instruction is provided in the regular classroom (push-in) or in the Title I classroom (pull-out).
Highly Qualified Paraprofessionals are also vital to providing specialized instruction in small groups and on a one on one basis.
The goal of our Title I Reading and Math programs are to provide all students with the skills necessary to become successful learners.

Communication is a two-way process that involves everyone involved being open to listening and hearing others views. There are many ways we can communicate..Phone calls, in person meetings, Parent Square, school newsletters and our school and district website.

Our family engagement policy is available to you on our website and we are happy to provide you a copy if you would be interested. In September we will have Parent/Teacher conferences at which time we will make our Partners in Learning Compact available to review and sign. This is an important document that outlines all responsible parties expectations in the successful learning of each student.

Family Involvement is so important to learning. There are many ways to get involved. Site Council, PTSO, volunteering in the classroom or school, working with your child at home (whether it be homework or games) and of course attending school events. We have some great resources for you to assist you in staying involved with your child’s education. Just scan the QR code on the screen or pick a Family Resource document by the door on the way out.
