SAGE GUIDE
We need 14 SAGE guides: 2 per group of ~5 students�(It’s an IN-PERSON event)�
SAGE Guide Time Commitment:
*** We are looking for a variety of STEM professionals in different stages of their traditionally STEM and STEM adjacent careers.***

Opening Activity - Morning Ice-Breakers (9:10-9:30 AM)
Participants will be engaging with the SAGE camp for the next 4 hours, so let's open each session with an activity to get bodies and brains moving!

Many SAGE guides from the 2021 camp found that physical activity & mindfulness was useful in getting things started. Resources provided to SAGE guide will include:

Professional Growth (9:30-10:30 AM) 60 minutes
Each day, students will learn skills necessary to enter and stay in STEM fields, as well as practice using tools that help develop confidence and effective communication.

Learning Objectives | Being able to use “yes, and” and “yes, but” to productively collaborate. Assess personal boundaries while collaborating effectively. | Awareness of zones: comfort zone, learning zone, panic zone and thoughts, feelings, actions cycle Knowledge of their emotions around communications/ public speaking Knowledge about techniques like reframing, power poses, and mindfulness exercises | To reframe student definition of “failure” as an opportunity for growth & development of wisdom. To encourage students to “push their learning boundary” and learn from failure. | Define the concept of growth mindset Determine where they fall along the fixed/growth mindset spectrum Identify ways to move towards a growth mindset Acknowledge the influences in their life | Provide space for students to reflect on their own leadership abilities & aspirations; � Integrate the many skills and ideas that were taught in professional development throughout the week Assess confidence about their abilities to exercise leadership (i.e., influence without formal authority) moving forward |

Each lesson will start with a group presentation and then the students will break into their groups for rest of the session (more info in the facilitator guides).
For each lesson you will be provided with the following materials:
�Additional SAGE Guide Training will take place in July, covering all of the lessons in detail as well as facilitation tools, tips, and techniques.
