Getting Started

You will then see this screen after you PRESS START.

Click Windows PC icon to plug in your laptop and teach using it.

Click the “Browser” icon to teach from the web.

Click “File Viewer” to access Screenshots (Photos) and Microsoft documents.

Click Gadgets icon to see other apps.

Click the Whiteboard icon to access the whiteboard.

Click the “Screen sharing” icon to screencast from your device.

Move the menu bar

Annotation Tool

Sidebars are located on both sides of the screen. You can extend and collapse these side bars using two fingers. You can move them up and down the screen using one finger.

This is the screen annotation tool

  • Touch the screen annotation tool to begin writing on any screen.
  • You can write over websites, documents and videos!
  • Touch the screen annotation tool again to take a picture of your screen and exit the overlay.
  • Using this tool will always take a picture of what you have written on the screen.

Change the Whiteboard

The whiteboard is set to classic. You can change it to the new whiteboard by clicking...

Settings icon (found in top right corner of main menu)> Scroll down under whiteboard> Click New Whiteboard

Click “Settings” in top right corner of main screen>Scroll down to “Themes”>Choose the theme

Object Recognition

  • Turn on object recognition in your whiteboard
  • Choose a thickness and color from your pens
  • Use your stylus (pen) to choose another color.
  • Write with two different colors and thicknesses on your panel.

Sharing Your Screen

Newline Cast

  • Wirelessly share your screen (or your students’ screens) to your Newline board.
  • No need for cables or signing in or out of Google.

Newline Cast-How To

  • Go to Newline Cast from your board to display directions to students.

  • Casters: Go to https://displaynote.com/join/
  • Choose “connect via web”
  • Enter your session ID number (found on the board) and your name.
  • You are now casting!

Newline Broadcasting

  • Broadcast the content on the board to your students
  • Students will click on a link and be taken to the content on the board.
  • Sound and interactivity do not go with cast. It is a one way, visual aid for you to share your board content with your students.
  • You do not all have to be on the same network.

  • Choose “Newline Broadcasting”

    • The link and code
    • Or the public link at the bottom

You are now broadcasting what is on your Newline Board.

Oktopus Software

If you can’t locate the octopus software on your laptop desktop...you will need to put in a work order to the tech department to get the software pushed out.

There are some issues with the Oktopus software. Please continue using your SMART Notebook software until this is resolved.
