Course Syllabus

At the end of the school year students will recognize God as creator of the universe and will be aware of their responsibility in caring for creation. They will understand the Bible as the word of God, identifying the two central parts of the Bible as well as some Gospels and Parables. They will also recognize the liturgical times of Advent, Lent and Easter, understanding their spiritual meaning. In addition, they will discover in prayer a way to thank God and grow in friendship with Him, as well as learn different prayers such as The Holy Rosary, Our Father and others.

Learning Intentions

  • Understand how the first Church was formed, they will discover that in the church they have a family that is made up of those who love God.

  • They will understand that the relationship with God is the basis for other relationships. They will discover the ways in which, as members of the Church, they can be light and salt of the world.
  • Identify God as our father and creator of everything and discover the gift and calling we have to be co-creators and guardians of his Creation.

  • Understand that we are called to be disciples of Jesus and to attract others to come closer to Him with our example and testimony.
