Edom - Descendants of Esau

  • Edom = name of a condiment, connected to “adom” (to be red, possibly related to skin)
    • The first came out red, all his body like a hairy cloak, so they called his name Esau. - Genesis 25:25 (ESV)
    • And Esau said to Jacob, “Let me eat some of that red stew, for I am exhausted!” (Therefore his name was called Edom.) - Genesis 25:30 (ESV)
