Hastings Public Library - LoT Jr.

Our local Elks Lodge came to us offering grant money in early Fall 2023.

We used $2K from them and a few hundred dollars of our own to launch a long desired Junior collection.

We have many STEM items, musical instruments, and fun & games.

Hastings Public Library - LoT Basics

  • Patrons must be 18 or older to check out LoT items.
  • Patrons sign an agreement once and can check out if their account is in good standing.
  • No limit on number of items checked out.
  • When an agreement is on file, we add a message to the patron account so staff do not have to open the record.

34 of 47

Hastings Public Library - LoT Checkout Process

  • Patrons bring the DVD case for an item to staff.
  • Staff verifies an agreement is on file, completes a checkout log, and retrieves the item from the back room.
  • Staff checks out the item in Sierra.

Most of LoT Jr. is checked out!

A little messy today…..

Hastings Public Library - LoT Check in Process

  • Patrons bring their item to a desk.
  • Staff verifies all pieces are present with no damage and item works.
    • If they are too busy or there are a lot of pieces, they can leave it in a staging area for the Circulation Supervisor to check.
  • Staff checks in the item in Sierra, records return info on the log, puts the item in the back room and puts the DVD case back on the shelf.

  • Regular LoT uses a yellow label and black bags
  • LoT Jr. uses an orange label and orange bags.

We’re re-organizing, please excuse the mess.

Adding Images to Library of Things Records

Images must be in a very specific format or they will not display.

  • File Type:
    • jpg
  • Maximum Size
    • 268 pixels wide x 402 pixels high
  • File Name = Sierra Bibliographic Record Number (Case Sensitive)
    • b42563217.jpg

Adding Images to Library of Things Records

Photos can be e-mailed to me at jeff@llcoop.org

Please use “Photos for uploading” in the subject line of the e-mail.

Please include no more than 4 images in a single e-mail.

The photos will be uploaded to our Lakeland Web Server and will become visible in Bibliocommons after a short time.

Adding photos is optional, not required.

Resizing a Photo

Any image editing software should allow you to adjust the size of an image.

Two common apps are:

  • Paint
  • Photos

Both are included with most versions of Microsoft Windows.
