We print a model that is stored as G-code on the memory card in the printer.

G-code is the language the printer understands.

We can add text to our 3D designs!

  • Drag out “TEXT” onto your design
  • Set the text to “Hole”
  • Merge the design and the text

  • Go to www.orcsgirls.org/class
  • Click link Tinkercad
  • If your name pops up, hit the “That’s me!” button

MAKING A HEART FROM SIMPLE SHAPES

  • Create two cylinders and a cube
  • Line up the cylinders to create a heart
  • Use Merge to combine the three shapes
  • Extensions
    • Create a hole or ring for a necklace
    • Add your initials

CREATE YOUR OWN!

Remember

  • Sketch what you want to design.
  • As we are printing the plastic layer-by-layer, so no overhangs.
  • Avoid small details (units are mm)
  • Nozzle diameter is 0.4 mm.
  • Model no larger than 6000 mm3 – e.g. 60x20x5 mm3 is fine.
