Use Guidance

  • Generally for use between meetings 4 or 5.
  • For those who are beyond M5, can be used at their own discretion.

Meeting Focus

  • This exercise is designed for members to surface each other’s Superpowers, allowing members to become more aware of qualities they may take for granted.

Desired Outcomes

  • Members will expand their self-awareness based on input from other members.
  • Members will craft Superpower statements they can reference as needed (ex: career decisions, negotiations, etc.)

Must Dos

  • Use “pride” as a lens, as it occurs at the intersection of what “looks good” externally and what “feels good” internally.
  • Leverage connections across the group so members can hold up a mirror for each other.
  • Stay high level in leadership mode, keep the group out of the weeds, and elicit aha moments.

Facilitation Notes

Pride Lens

  • Use examples of achievements that give members a sense of pride. Keep members focused on the positive feelings, helping them reconnect with their authentic selves.

Connections Across the Group

  • Most high achievers are focused on what they want to do next and can lose sight of how much they have accomplished. After a member hears from the group about what makes her powerful, ask her if she heard anything surprising. This can help each member internalize the input and take a moment to appreciate her strengths.

Going Forward

  • The Superpower statement bridges from the exercise in the room to how members move forward in their lives and careers with a newfound awareness about themselves.

Virtual Facilitation Top Tip

Virtual Engagement

When individuals share their story and the group identifies attributes they hear, use the zoom annotation tool to make it more engaging and memorialize the insights.

  • Share. Share your screen with the list of attributes. You must have a shared screen to use the annotation tool.
  • Annotate. Direct the group to the stamp tool. On the zoom toolbar instruct members to click Annotate or More > Annotate > Stamp. As an individual shares their story, ask the group to select a specific stamp and while they are talking, stamp the page next to the attributes they hear.
  • Capture. After the member has shared, take a screenshot or ask the individual to take a screenshot as a reminder on the insights shared.
  • Repeat. Clear the screen and repeat for all members.
