About me - Michele Mederos, School Counselor
I have lived in Washougal since 1997 and raised two children here. I like to hike, camp, read, do watersports, garden, play pickleball, and play board games with my family.
I have worked in Elementary, Middle School, and High School settings and have loved all of it! I’ve worked in WSD since 2008.
I enjoy teaching Social Emotional Learning and being able to help my students individually. It’s an honor for me to work with your students and you!

The role of the School Counselor
Social Emotional Learning or SEL is the heart of what I work on with students.

Why is SEL so important?
The Zones of Regulation
I teach lessons on The Zones of Regulation each month to help all students, K-5, learn how to recognize their emotions and how their body shows them.
They use this awareness and the tools taught to help them regulate when they are not feeling calm or ready to learn.
