“A PLC is a framework for a focus on learning, a collaborative culture, and a focus on results.” -Anthony Mohammad

4 of 34

Isolation is the enemy of improvement. To improve and grow, leaders must be willing to embrace vulnerability and expose themselves to a critical friend to receive authentic feedback.”

(Elmore, 2004, p.67)

Norms & Guiding Values

Serene Hills Meeting Norms

Serene Hills Core Values

20 of 34

SHE PLC Guiding Values

Deepening Norms

(examples inspired by Dr. Brown, Dare to Lead)

  1. We lead with our common purpose (our campus goals) in mind.

  1. Instead of avoiding tough conversations, we have crucial conversations through honesty and productive feedback. We take breaks and circle back when crucial conversations become unproductive and require more processing time.

  1. We proactively address fears and feelings before reacting to challenges and problematic behaviors.

  1. We actively hold ourselves accountable and self-reflect without shame or blame. We are self-aware.

  1. We lead with curiosity and understand that curiosity and knowledge-building grow together; the more we know, the more we want to know.

  1. Though we do not admire the problem, we stay with problem identification and solving before rushing into ineffective and unsustainable solutions.

  1. We take risks and understand that to do the opposite stifles growth and inspires perfectionism and fear.
