Homework: Practicing

    • In Orchestra, we have TWO types of Homework Grades:

  1. Homework Checks

  • Practice Records (6th Grade)

Students typically ask “Do I have to take my instrument home everyday” The answer is IT DEPENDS!!

Homework: Practice Records

    • Student’s homework for Orchestra is to Practice!
    • To document our practicing I use something called Practice Records
      • Practice Log Google Doc Link
    • Practice Logs are due every FRIDAY to then be returned on Monday
    • Parents participate by verifying if students practiced with Parent Signature.
    • Students are welcome to practice the orchestra room in the morning prior to Homeroom (instead of going to the holding area) EXCEPT when I have morning rehearsals or Patriot Pops Rehearsals

Homework: Homework Checks

    • Students are assigned a spot of music from their books or their concert music
    • Students will play the excerpts in groups or individually
    • Students can be graded as a group or individually
      • It depends on what the purpose of the lesson

Formal Concert Uniforms

Speaking of Concerts....

Option 1:

    • White button down collared shirt, with black tie
    • Black socks and Black Dress shoes
    • Black sport coats are encouraged but NOT required
    • Shirts must be tucked in with a black belt.

    • Option 2:
    • White blouse (Completely White)
    • Black knee length skirt with black hose or Black dress pants
    • Black dress shoes or black dress sandals

High heels- could you walk in them for 3 hours, and can you play in them?

Ladies- Black Corelli Dress, black dress shoes

Gentlemen- Vest Ensemble with tuxedo pants & bow tie

    • The purchase of music, method books, theory books & educational materials
    • Professional membership fees for students to participate in SCMEA events
    • T-shirt (Moultrie Orchestra)
    • State Performance Assessment Fee (formerly called Concert Festival)
    • 3 ring binder for music, handouts, etc.
    • bus transportation for local field trips and performances
    • clinicians, piano accompanists, coaches for sectionals, guest artists
    • classroom instrument supplies…rosin, strings, tuners, etc.

    • Instrument rental for home or school
    • Trip Participation (Carowinds, Orlando, etc)
    • Formal Concert Attire

Fundraising 24-25

Snap Raise! in September

What is it?

-We send out emails to collect donations from your friends and families

What is our fundraising goals?:

$30,000 towards NOF

$5,000 towards Orlando

$5,000 towards Carowinds and Future Initiatives

YES this is ambitious and a lot, but it is to alleviate the cost for field trips!

Important Dates:

September 4 - Invite Day

September 13 - Email Due Day

September 16 - Launch Day

Instruments

Refer to WHAT STUDENTS NEED AND WHERE TO GET IT Handout for your music specific supplies.

Violins/Violas: Drop off Instrument at the beginning of the day prior to holding area

Cello/Bass: Rent a School Use Instrument ($65)

Students need a quality instrument to be successful in class!
