This excludes Pre- K numbers (26 identified as EL) because they don’t receive services.

English Language Learners

​

• EL count is down from 51% last year to 47% this year…we made it to less than half of the student body qualifying.
• The EL numbers in Kindergarten and 1st are down as we are working on not misidentifying students on the Minnesota Language Survey filled out by enrolling families.
• 2nd- 5th grade have the heaviest amount of ELs as these are the formative, learning academic language acquisition years.
• 6th-12th grade the number of ELs decreases due to exits from the program (through the state mandated ACCESS test). On average it takes 4.5 years to exit the program when identified in Kindergarten.
