Research question: �What is the relationship between the academic performance of students at a school and the socioeconomic status of the neighborhood surrounding a school? ��Scope of the project:�Public schools in the City of Pittsburgh will be studied.

Data
Academic performance of students at a school: School Performance Profile final score, from report done by PA Department of Education. Largely based on standardized test scores.
Socioeconomic status of a neighborhood: household median income by census tract, from American Community Survey from U.S. Census Bureau.
Pittsburgh School geographic data from Assignment 1.
All Pittsburgh Public Schools
Low Scoring Schools (lowest two quintiles)
High Scoring Schools (highest two quintiles)
Main Findings
Schools in bottom 40% are in neighborhoods ranging from low-income to middle-income.��Schools in top 40% are in neighborhoods of all income levels, but mostly in middle-income and to upper-income neighborhoods. Exceptions are magnet school, montessori school.�
