Mission

Our mission is to educate the community, especially the Asian community, about the process and benefits of donating blood, and ultimately recruit more blood donors through partnership with Bloodworks NW.

Goal in 2020

Our goal is to spread awareness to at least 90 people by the end of June about the importance of blood donation

  • Get at least 10% of eligible tour attendees to donate blood by end of school year

Blood donor statistics

  • Only 2.2% of the Asian American population has donated blood

  • Only 3% of the eligible U.S. population donates blood

Why Blood is needed?

  • We need blood to save lives
    • 1 Pint Saves 3 Lives
  • Nearly 25% of us will require a blood transfusion at some point in our lives
  • Blood of all types is required for new medical research that could potentially cure diseases in the future

Bloodworks Tours

3 Tours:

  • One tour per month in March, April, and May
  • Approximately 15 people per tour
  • Each tour is approx. 1 hour long

30 Minutes after each tour

  • Have interns reflect on tour (likes, dislikes, recommendations for future tours)
  • Unique message (#PathofBlood)
  • Survey interest after each tour

  • The path of blood from one person to another
  • After the tour, interns can be added to the collage, representing their commitment to the project
  • On the papers will be their own story on blood donation
  • This is also a great marketing tool because it shares our message while introducing the interns behind it

Civic Club

Plan and present for all clubs - Civic Club team and Bloodworks project team

First test at one school, then create training program for club leaders

Basic Content (parts of our message)

  • Present the importance of why we need blood, the shortages and the significance of the shortages
  • The safety of needles and the blood collection process
  • Why and how the audience can help
  • Chinese classes at schools

Outreach Tasks

  • Each team member will personally contact 6 interns to sign up for the BloodWorks tour in the next 3 months (before each tour)
  • Meeting time before breakout sessions
