Who are College Connection students?

  1. Juniors with GPA 2.0 or above, and on track with graduation requirements
  2. Those with a COMPLETED a BCC application on 1/9/26
    • Early (Priority) applications will be due 12/5 with interviews on 12/15 & 16
  3. Have/are willing to develop good communication skills
  4. Ready for college experience, freedom & responsibilities
  5. Ready to grow beyond your high school comfort zone
  6. Motivated and curious
  7. Good attendance habits
  8. YOU! Yes, YOU!

How does College Connection work?

  1. Take all of your classes at Butte College
    1. 4 high school courses - 1 in person and 3 independent study
    2. 3 college courses each semester (limited to 11 units in fall and spring semesters)
  2. Earn high school credit and college credit
  3. Learn to navigate a college environment and use college resources
  4. Go anywhere after high school graduation
    • Stay at Butte College and have 4 semesters for free with the Butte College Promise
    • Go directly to a 4-year college
    • Other paths - military, apprenticeship, CTE programs or trade school

What Some May Consider As Disadvantages

  • Lots of STRUCTURED FREEDOM - - Different from the myth of “free time”
  • Work!
    • You’re a high school AND a college student
  • Leaving the high school environment behind
    • Yet, you can attend high school activities, athletics, and events (rallies, prom, dances, clubs…etc.)
  • Commute to Butte College main campus M-TH

Each fall, Butte College welcomes 80-90 College Connection students to campus for a senior year of college immersion! These students take 9-11 units each semester, learn first-hand how to navigate college, and develop their educational purpose & plan. What do College Connection students have in common? They are motivated & curious, and ready to step outside of their comfort zone!
