Scrapbook

Each Debutante Candidate will be responsible for creating a Scrapbook which will capture the memories of the Debutantes year as a participant during the Debutante Cotillion season.

Scrapbook

The Scrapbook workshops and checks will provide you, the Deb Candidate, information on how to prepare and organize your scrapbook..

  • There will be online workshops to instruct you on how to assemble the contents in the scrapbooks and make the cover.
  • There will be scheduled scrapbook checks sent to you with suggestions.
  • The scrapbooks will have a turn in deadline date.
  • Points will be assigned for online workshop attendance, scrapbook checks, including content, organization, cover, and final judging of the completed scrapbook.
  • All handout information will be emailed to you.
  • An absentee permit will be available for you.

Do’s and Don’ts for Preparing Your Scrapbook

1.Time Management

Do ask for advice and for help. The committee is here to help you, via phone, text, or email.

Do accept constructive criticism gracefully. The committee wants you to be successful.

Don’t wait until the last minute before a benchmark or deadline to begin a task or ask for help.

Don’t guess at what is required of you and your book, ask.

Don’t forget to make a note of scrapbook checks, and don’t forget to have your scrapbook available at every check.

Do measure for the amount of fabric needed for your binder/notebook by following the construction information emailed to you.

Do have all materials available for the first scrapbook assembly workshop as scheduled.

Don’t buy the wrong size binder/notebook. Ask for clarification when you are unsure.

Don’t forget to buy each component on the material list.

Debutant Candidate Scrapbook Material List

The information for purchasing the binder is on the next slide.

1. One three-inch wide white 3-ring-D binder/notebook. The

information for the binder/notebook is listed on the next slide,

2. One Sheet of White Poster board.

3. One piece Polyester quilt batting, 13" by 30", White.

4. One yard White fabric 45" wide, to cover the binder and cardboard.(best choices are bridal satin, taffeta, polished cotton, or cotton sateen.) Stretchy fabrics such as thick or stretchy fabrics will not work well.) Note: The fabric must be bright white, not winter white or vanilla, if there is broidery or a pattern, it must be small and bright white as well. (Press your fabric before you begin construction of your cover.) (More information to follow.)

7. Ruler and pencil.

8. A good sharp pair of Scissors.

9. Lace trimming is optional. If you opt to use lace, measure the outside edge around your binder and add an additional 6 inches to the measurement, Note: Your lace must match your fabric in composition (nylon lace for synthetic fabrics, cotton lace for cotton fabrics.) Lace should be pre-gathered, at least 2 ½ inches wide, and no more than three inches wide. White only.

Do’s and Don’ts for Preparing Your Scrapbook

Scrapbook Interior

Do include a Table of Contents and number the pages.

Do prepare a dedication page with a photo of the person.

Do work on the pages over time, with attention to detail.

Do use clear plastic sheet protectors for each page, use both sides.

Do use the Content Guide to help you assemble your book pages correctly.

Do pay attention to neatness – Neatness Counts.

Don’t forget to take photos throughout the Deb season to document the journey.

Don’t just throw something together at the last minute for the interior of your book.

Don’t forget to consult your scheduled scrapbook checks and turn in date.

  1. The top 3 Scrapbook Awards

will go to the Debutante Candidates that prepares the best

scrapbook as determined by accumulated points and the

judgement of the Scrapbook Committee

2. Due Dates and Book Submission

Scrapbooks must be available for each scheduled

benchmark and book check date.

Call, text or email the scrapbook chairman if there is a

problem meeting the scrapbook check date, you will be sent

an Absentee Permit form.

The scrapbook must be submitted on time so it can be

evaluated in a timely manner.

Scrapbook Absence Permit Form

The Scrapbook Absence Permit form allows the Deb Candidate to receive points for missing an activity due to a school or personal event.

A form will be emailed to you upon a timely request. Please copy, complete with names and properly signed, then scan and email back to the committee chairman.
