We met with Tim to find out how the compost bins work and what we will need to do with it.

There are lots of layers inside the compost bins, you have layers of leaves or more dry stuff to help keep the nitrogen down that is coming from the waste breaking down inside the bin. This photo is of a layer of leaves on top of a smelly layer of rotting food.

Stinking rotting crayfish in the compost The smell goes away when you cover it with another layer of leaves.

The lunch boxes will be saved so Lopy can shred them and they can be added to the compost as another layer.

All of our left over food and the brown paper bags will be going straight into the compost bin
