of your students.

Arrival for all students begins at 7:15 am. You may begin dropping off your students in the carline at 7:15. All students arriving before 7:30 will need to be in the cafeteria for monitoring by an adult.

*Note: The playground is not open before school hours.

Students will be welcomed in their classrooms beginning at 7:30.

Instruction begins promptly at 7:40am. If you arrive after 7:40 am, park in one of the designated parking spots in the back parking lot and check your child in at the office. Any adults on campus after 7:40 will need to come to the office to get a visitor’s badge.

Car Line

ALL car riders will be dropped off through the car line off of Hunt Trail. Car riders can be dropped off beginning at 7:15. Families must not drive their vehicles into the small staff parking lot past the mural during pick-up or drop-off times, unless they have a designated handicapped placard or plate.

Treadwell IS NOT a car drop off or pick up point.

Adults must stay inside their vehicles at all times. Please have your child practice getting in their seat and buckling. Please make sure they are able to exit on the right side of your vehicle.

Each family in car line will have a “family number.” Please know and share this number with the staff on duty. You will be told which color sign your children will be waiting for you at in the car line. Please practice your number with your child(ren).

You can sign up for a number here.

Stay in line and wait your turn. Please do not go around cars to squeeze into a space. It’s much safer and faster for the line to move all at once than one car and a time and our system depends on cars staying in “color” order.

Walkers - Parent Drop Offs

Where can we park?

  • Bullard Dr. or Great Northern near the south fields
  • Cross the street only at designated crosswalks. Parents, please demonstrate integrity and follow this rule even when you’ve already dropped off your child(ren). Please do not cross through the car line.
  • There is no parking along Hunt or the school side of Treadwell.

Where do we drop off?

  • Families are not allowed to drop students off at the classroom door. This is a district safety policy. Please drop off your students at designated hug zones.
  • There are “hug zones” at different sections of the school - the ends of the Kinder, PreK, and 3rd/4th grade ramps, by the gym, at the black top, and at the base of the portables.
  • After dropping off your child, all families and campus visitors should leave campus buy 7:40.

Dismissal Guidelines

Specific Guidelines for Dismissal:

  • Students in grades 3-5 can walk, bike or scoot home alone with written parent permission. Students in grades PK-2 can walk home with an older sibling with permission (older siblings will walk to hug zones for pick up).

  • Families will not be allowed on campus until the bell rings at 3:10.

  • Car/bus/van riders and students in after care will be escorted by staff to their dismissal locations.

  • Students cannot be picked up by car on Treadwell. It is for walkers and bikers only. Parking on Hunt to pick up students is also not allowed.

Transportation Changes

Families must provide written notification each time there is a change in transportation arrangements. Please email your child’s teacher. Otherwise, your child will be sent home in the regular arrangement (walking, carpool, after school care, etc.)

If you need to change transportation on the same day after the school day has started, you may call the school before 2 PM or as early as possible. Requests after 2pm will not be accepted.

Dismissal Tags

For younger students, a dismissal tag will be applied to their backpacks. Please do not remove the tag! Changes in dismissal must be communicated to your child’s classroom teacher prior to the day of change. If a transportation change is the same day, you must call the office at 512-414-2082 as soon as possible. Do not communicate same day transportation changes via email.

    • It is important to maintain consistency in how your child goes home. Although we expect a few delays for the first few weeks, please bear with us because we anticipate being able to fully dismiss all students within 10 minutes once we are in the swing of things. ☺

Dismissal - Parent Pick Up

Hug Zones:

  • Students will be released to families at the Hug Zones by teachers after 3:10.
    • PK: End of the PreK ramp
    • Kinder: At your child’s class’ designated picnic table by the small playground.
    • Grades 1, 2, and 3 (Mays, Shirey): Hug Zones are located at the BASE of the portable ramps (not the classroom doors).
    • Grade 3 (Peterson, Pena-Shives will be on the blacktop)
    • Grade 4: Under the shade structure on the outdoor stage at the end of the 4th grade ramp.
    • Grade 5: Outside of the fence past the Gaga Pit.

What if it RAINS???? (it could happen!)

  • Bring your patience-rain on an outdoor campus can be challenging at dismissal time!
  • Please remember that same day transportation changes must be called into the office prior to 2:00 pm. Please do not call after that even on rainy days to change the plan. Also teachers are not necessarily checking email during the day-phone calls are best!
  • Students that are on the PK, Kinder, 4th, and 5th grade ramps will be dismissed from the ramps/classroom doors instead of walking out to the picnic tables or blacktops.
  • All car riders will wait in the cafeteria and be sent out to cones as parents approach. This may take a bit more time than usual as there may be more car riders and it will take longer to load students.
  • Check in with your child’s teacher if you are unsure of the plan.

17 of 18

Important Reminders

  • Please follow all traffic laws and maintain the flow of traffic.
  • Do not make u-turns on any street surrounding the campus.
  • Please DO NOT block residential driveways or move trash cans.
  • Please do not park on Hunt or the schoolside of Treadwell.
  • Please be respectful to staff and crossing guards when reminders are given.
