Trip itinerary

  • Sunday, March 10th
    • 11:00 am Meeting for chaperones in BH
    • 11:30 am Students arrive thru competition gym doors and head to BH
    • 12:00 pm Luggage check for students in competition gym
      • Please limit luggage to one suitcase and one carry-on (instruments do not apply)
      • During luggage check, we will practice in the band hall
    • 12:45 Meet in comp gym for final instructions
    • 1:15 Load buses
      • Bus 1 designated for band instruments
      • Buses 2-4 are for luggage
    • 2:00 Depart for Orlando!
      • Stops every 3-5 hours with a 30–45-minute stop at Buc-ee’s in Alabama for driver change & refueling

Trip Itinerary

  • Monday, March 11th
    • 7:30-8:00 am Arrival at UNIVERSAL!
      • Freshen up, stretch, eat, etc.
      • Meet your chaperone and enjoy the day, starting in City Walk
      • The park opens at 9 am
    • Each group will have their own schedule and destination
      • Face check in every 4-ish hours
      • Chaperone will be at the check in spot for 1 hour
      • There will be NO PHONE/TEXT/FACETIME CHECK INS!
    • 9:00 pm Park closes
    • 9:15 pm Roll check on buses
    • 9:45 pm Arrival at hotel to get keys and go to rooms

  • Tuesday, March 12th
    • Performance day!
      • 8:00 am Depart hotel for performance location
        • Wear your Purple Pride shirt for the performance!
        • or… 23-24 Choir Shirt
      • 8:30 am Workshop begins
        • Approx. 2-3 hour
        • Unfortunately, only students and parents chaperones can attend - no spectators
      • Load instruments back on bus
    • After the performance, the students will enter the park and enjoy the rest of the day
      • Make sure to pack everything that you need for the day!
        • Money, tickets, etc.
    • 9:15 pm Roll check on buses
    • 9:30 pm Arrival at hotel
      • Pack up, clean up for early departure on Wednesday

    • Busch Gardens Day!
    • 7:15 am Roll check on buses
    • 7:30 am Depart Orlando
    • 9:30 am Approx. arrival at Busch Gardens
    • 10:00 am Park opens
    • 6:00 pm Meet back at buses for final roll check
      • *WE THINK* the buses will be parked in the lot across McKinley/40th street from the park. We will have your student update you as soon as we know better.
        • Sorry! It’s also our first time doing this!
      • Parents: this is where you can sign your student out to ride home with you (bring your ID!)
      • If you’re riding home with someone OTHER than mom or dad, send a note by March 6th!
    • 7:00 pm Depart for PN-G

  • Thursday, March 14th
    • On the way back, the bus will stop every 3-5 hours like on the way to FL
    • Driver change and refueling again at Buc-ee’s in Alabama
    • Arrive back at PN-G between 10 am and Noon
    • EVERYONE is expected to help unpack and bring things back into the band hall
      • We know everyone’s tired and ready to go, BUT…

Other information

  • On the bus
    • Supper Sunday night will be eaten on the bus, as well as breakfast Monday & Thursday
      • Plan accordingly (Monday breakfast can be eaten at City Walk)
    • Food and snacks are welcome, but please clean up after yourself!
    • Per the bus company:
      • Drinks: only plastic, bottled drinks with a screw-top lid are permitted
      • No milk products
      • No sunflower seeds
      • No peanuts or peanut products, please! (We have students who are severely allergic)
      • Please do not spray anything on the buses
      • Little coolers are okay, but please be respectful of others’ space. Planning ahead and sharing would be ideal. (Must fit in your carry-on.)

Other information

  • On the bus
    • Most of the stops are drivers’ stops only.
    • Roll will be checked before the bus starts moving at each stop just to make sure we don’t leave anyone
    • DVD player/Wi-fi
      • G and PG movies only
      • Do NOT rely on the WiFi. Download what you want to watch before the trip.
    • Tablets, personal game systems, other electronics are welcome, but only with earphones
      • Use common sense with your valuables
    • Bus Sleeping… Boy-Girl & NO Blankets
  • Weather
    • Average March highs are in the 80’s & lows in the 50’s – a light jacket in the evenings would be advisable
    • Rain is always a factor – bring a poncho or an umbrella
    • The dress code DOES STILL apply.

  • Take a picture of your ticket as soon as you get it!
    • For BOTH parks
    • Chaperones: good idea for you to do this as well for each of your kiddos
  • Family “outings”
    • Please email me if you’re going to be temporarily checking your student out for a meal, outing, etc. This will help us keep track of everyone. Thank you!
    • Communicate with student’s chaperone, also.

  • At the hotel
    • Yes, there’s a pool, but no swimming
      • We have pools around here
    • They do serve breakfast for FREE!
    • Leave it better than you found it!

  • How much money do I need?
    • We suggest you budget $20 per meal, per day and adjust from there
    • Souvenirs
    • “Rechargeable” debit/gift card from banks
      • Universal and Busch Gardens are CASHLESS – plan accordingly

  • Prescription medications
    • All medications must be accompanied by a FORM and given to our nurse, Mrs. Guidry.
    • For specific questions regarding your child’s medications, please see Mrs. Guidry after the meeting.
  • Inhalers, ‘epi’ pens, etc.
    • Turn in a form but KEEP WITH YOU!!!
  • OTC’S
    • Chaperones can administer these as long as it is authorized on the emergency card
      • Advil, Tylenol, antacids are the only OTC’s that we can administer.
      • Other OTC’s, such as allergy meds, the nurse must keep and administer like prescriptions
  • If you get sick/hurt/etc.
    • Go to First Aid FIRST, then call your chaperone

Other information

  • Guidelines for students
    • Use the buddy system!
    • Plan ahead for your face check in
    • You are not to leave the park/hotel/etc for ANY reason without your chaperone
    • No boys in girl’s rooms and vice versa
    • Students: make sure to respond to your chaperone’s communication with you
    • Minor infractions: be Mr. Wells’ buddy

  • Serious infractions
    • Shoplifting, etc…
