  • A large, modern 82,000 sq. ft. facility built for use during the Pan Am Para Pam games and to be converted into the new Cooper Koo YMCA late spring 2016

  • The building is partnered with George Brown College who has a residence stretching across part of the YMCA facility and along the east side of the building

  • The YMCA is built to LEED Gold building standards, is AODA compliant and this facility will include spaces for youth and community activities, a gymnasium, swimming pool, an accessible green roof, and fitness studios and exercise areas

How Can I get Involved?

Help us design the Green Roof for this new YMCA!

  • 30,000 square feet of roof space
  • 10,000 square feet of “useable” space
  • 20,000 square feet of meadow and nature
  • 30,000 square feet next door to George Brown

4 Week Install (weather permitting)

  • Week 1 (April 27th-May 1st): Deck and planter assembly; garden edge details
  • Week 2 (May 4th-May 8th): Complete deck and edging; Stone placement around edging
  • Week 3 (May 11th – 15th): Complete stone work; Move and grade soil; Lay irrigation and electrical lines
  • Week 4 (May 18th-22nd): Complete odds and ends; Plant the roof; Water the plants
