How it works
A Video Game Console (The Xbox one X)
By Ryan Feder
THE ENGINE
The first step to build a console is determining what operating system the device will run. In the case of the Xbox One X it uses a specific engine, the Scorpio Engine, which was designed at Microsoft. The so called system-on-a-chip allows for “True 4K Gaming.”
THE INSIDE
For the Xbox One X, the motherboard, the main circuit stays at the top of the console, and the optical, graphics, and hard drives, storage, underneath. The Xbox One X was meant to be a big advancement in the graphics department.
THE HEIGHT AND HEAT
The Xbox One X is taller than its predecessors and and there are more components inside, so console was inevitably going to produce a lot of heat. For the Xbox One X, a custom fan was custom built to circulate air throughout the console and keep everything cool. This fan works in conjunction with a heat sink which is hollow and filled with water, and uses a vacuum to move the heat towards the radiator fans. The heat sink is similar to things that can be found in high-end PCs and graphics cards.
PUTTING IT TOGETHER
Although much of the Xbox one X’s parts were made at microsoft, the Xbox still needs to be put together with extreme care to work properly. The Xbox is an extremely complicated software that needs all of its parts to work.
THE FINAL TOUCHES
The color of the console, Infinite Black, makes the console look more “elegant,” and is meant to intrigue loyal Xbox customers and other possible buyers. The color of the console is also meant to represent the power that the console has.
