BIOGRAPHY (EN)
Henri Lamy is a French figurative painter. Born in 1985 in Lyon. His work is originally characterized by the usage of palette knife. He began his artistic career as a member of the artistic squat 59 Rivoli, an art residence located in Paris, France. In 2014, Henri Lamy thought of combining his two passions: capoeira and painting to create a new form of expression, through movement and visual arts. Together with his wife Maïa d’Aboville, they have performed shows worldwide. In 2015, together with his wife Maïa d’Aboville, they created Taverne Gutenberg, a creative hub in Lyon which hosted art residencies,, exhibitions, art studios and a bar. From 2015 to 2018, it gathered over 40,000 visitors, 30 exhibitions, 400 participating artists, as well as 15 resident artists. The mission of Taverne Gutenberg is to promote emerging artists and to give an alternative space for the public to come and experience art and its creation. In 2017, Henri and Maïa create «Ugnayan sa Poblacion» in the Philippines, an art residency program which showcased the power of art in community development. | In 2018, Taverne Gutenberg opened a new space called Les Halles du Faubourg, also in the city-center of Lyon, this time in an abandoned 1600 sq. meter factory, where art, culture, and science interact together as a whole. Henri’s love for other cultures and languages is what made him travel the globe in search of faces to paint, and scenes to depict. Humans are and will always remain in the center of his work. His paintings are collected by various international institutions and selected art galleries to name a few, Altromondo in the Philippines, Bouillon d’Arts in France and Fitz Contemporary in the USA. Furthermore, Henri had the chance to paint official portraits of a number of celebrities such as Jeremy Meeks, Ky Mani Marley, Jose Gonzales, and Jimmy Cliff. |
