Presenting tonight is myself, Ricky Bradley, serving you as CCL’s Vice President of Field Operations. My role is to support volunteers and our volunteer leaders. My first tabling experience was in 2012 with two other new volunteers signed up to table at a three-day event.

I do not recommend that.

However, I learned that you don’t need to know everything AND you probably know more about the issue and the solutions to solve climate change than a vast majority of people. You are a resource for your community.

Also presenting on tonight’s meeting is you! On tonight’s meeting, I see a few state coordinators, dozens of group leaders, and volunteers from across the country.

We are going to use the last third of this meeting tonight to learn from each other about our experiences and strategies.

What and Why?

What is tabling?

Setting up a table at an event to connect and engage.

Why Do We Table?

To engage citizens.
To spark meaningful conversation.
To persuade:

Take action
Join CCL

For personal development

Simply stated, tabling is a form of grassroots outreach where CCL volunteers set up a table in a public space—such as a farmers' market, campus, or community event.

We do so to engage passersby in meaningful conversations about CCL and the climate solutions we support, and

to persuade people to get involved, whether that’s taking action or joining CCL.

what’s often overlooked, but what I find is the most important aspect of tabling for me personally is how you develop new skills and conquer the fear of speaking to strangers.

Tabling is low-risk way to practice talking about CCL, climate change and climate solutions.

The simple of act of having nonpartisan conversations is important to normalize or overcome social norms that we can’t do anything about climate change.

The fact that you’re there and doing this is important.
