Metadata and quality reports

  • For every reference year, Member States send reports on metadata an quality to Eurostat
    • Deadline = T + 9 months
    • Basic contents laid down in Commission Implementing Reg. 1051/2011
    • More detailed templates have been discussed in TF and WG meetings
    • 2 templates: 1 for supply and 1 for demand (via ESS-MH)
    • In line with standard ESS reporting structures (ESMS and ESQRS)

Methodology & support

Methodological documents:

  • Methodological manual for tourism statistics
    • Definitions and recommended guidelines
    • Drawn up (and regularly updated) by Eurostat in close cooperation with the Member States (via task force meetings and the Working Group)
    • Target audience: advanced and new producers of tourism statistics
    • Underlying aims: better harmonisation & international comparability, exchange of good practices

Data transmission

  • eDAMIS (“Single Entry Point”)
  • Excel or csv files respecting data transmission formats as described in Tourism data transmission manual on CIRCABC
  • Validation rules and sharing of responsibilities between Eurostat and country are described in two documents (one for aggregated data, one for micro-data) available on CIRCABC
  • Use EDIT for the validation of data (micro and aggregated data)
